In the middle of the ocean
Looking at the sun
No one around me
I can hear myself think
Feeling nothing but reconciliation with myself
The air is flowing through my lungs
I am free

the thick heady rush
of my midnight dredge
a hallucination
when I don't recognise myself in the mirror

the roll of my eyes
when I stand up
and my legs give way
in a lopsided dance to the wall

the curl of my fingers
as they pull down the curtain
and my arms break through
the glass window

These days it seems
I remember my early childhood
Better than the contents of my last meal
Dementia creeps.......

Right now,
I'm remembering one early evening
With four of us small boys
Sitting on a wall
Discussing the realities of the world
As we knew it

The moon was pale but visible
And a subject for discussion
As serious as old men playing chess
We wondered how far away it could be
One lad said it was farther than London
But we knew that was obviously wrong
After all
We could see the moon
No-one had seen London

Stormy Monday

They call it stormy Monday,
But Tuesday's a hurricane.
Wednesday's even worse without you babe.
Thursday's also sad,
And Friday's just as bad,
Saturday ain't worth the wait without you babe.
I'll spend my first Sunday in church
Prayin' all day,
For you to come back baby.
They call it stormy Monday,
Since my baby went away.
Tuesday's been a hurricane
Cause my baby went away again,
Wednesday's even worse
Its like livin' with a curse without you babe.
Thursday's also sad,
And Friday's just as bad,
Saturday ain't worth the wait.
Then Sunday came like it was fate,
And I prayed for you all over again.
Every Monday's stormy without you
And every day just gets more blue.

Now it starts, the game is on
The time is here, it has begun
The biggest game in both our lives
The greatest price if we both survive

The game may bring us happiness
The game may bring us tears
The game may bring us sadness
The game may bring us cheer

You and I we both can win
You and I may tie
Don't give up, give it a try
But if you loose you'll surely die
Pick yourself a flower
From the fields
Within my heart,

I make you a promise:
My kind, caring fragrance,
From you,
Will never, ever part.

Pick yourself a berry
From the branches
Of my soul's vine,

My giving, eternal sweetness
Will remain with you forever -
Beyond
The end of time.
