My life is full of
Ups and downs, and
No matter how hard I try
I get pulled back further

To the point where
I'm gonna crash and
Burn and bring everyone
And everything with me.

The pressure
The tension
The would've, should've, could've
And the ifs and maybes.

The mistakes
Of my past
And of the present.
What happen to no regrets?

Slowly my life is pulling
Me backwards and
Creating tension between
The past and present.

The further back I'm pulled,
The more I lose hold of reality.
I fight the tension; I'm gonna explode!
But I'm held in place.

I'm the Arrow
And my life's the Bow.
It pulls me back
And I'm ready to explode!

It pulls me back
Dragging me through the past
Exposing me to all
My weaknesses and strengths.

It aims me in the
Right direction.
I'm pulled back and
I'm gonna hit the intended target.

I'm the Arrow.
My life's the Bow.
It pulls me back
So I can hit my goal.
I am from grain and steel,
from welding and nurturing.

I'm from the taste of metal,
the sounds of the birds,
the touch of the wind,
the sight of fall's first harvest.
I am from the smell of fire and corn.

From learning to weld,
from learning to plant.
From learning to love,
From learning to cope.

I'm from flying planes,
from flying sparks,
from flying angels,
from flying kites.

I'm from the cotton in your jeans,
from the corn in your freezer.
I'm from the iron in your stove,
from the steel in your car.

The place where cotton meets man
and man meets metal
and metal turns around and meets with cotton
is where I'm from.

and breathe in,
breathe out;
remind yourself
this too shall pass

Mostly numb
yes i smoke

i smoke to put something in my hand

to replace the same place your hand used to rest

so maybe its a force of habit

yes i smoke

just to keep something warm near me

because most things are painfully cold lately.

My fingers reached for the tip.
As my lips hugged it,
You were at the back of my mind
Then I inhaled to the fullest.
I held every cloud as long as I could
So at the back you'd linger
Never to bother what's ahead.
Until I was at the brink of suffocating,
Until I needed to breathe,
I had to exhale and knew, as I wanted,
To let go every memory of you.
But as I did, I had no intention
Of letting a part of me drift with you.
I was able to smoke you out
With red droplets of me
Sinking through the earth.
