there's circles written around my eyes
people see it as something for them to solve,
like a riddle they can't even read.
but the clearer they see, the less they like.

they tell me i'm too much too handle,
they leave when they tell me i snap too easy
they leave when they realize they can't play with my head
they leave when i don't change my ways

and all i have to say is
i live for myself, not you.
so their defensive minds deem it selfish
they leave

you're like a germ,
twisting my insides
into outsides, ruining
this facade of happiness

you're like a thorn,
in my side, painful and
ever present, constant
prickles and discomfort

you inhale as I exhale,
opposites defined by the
sharp black powerlines that
scream across the sky

your past isn't a suitcase; you need to stop carrying it with you everywhere you go.
and your future? regard it as hand luggage. don't forget that it is there but be sure to carry it lightly
now for your present. it's the suitcase, one you pack yourself and it is up to you what is in it. i would encourage you to prepare for the holiday of a lifetime though
