Thats the thing about poetry,
you think im talking about a
broken heart,
when really,
Im talking about a broken
world.
Words can hide things
Did you ever have a vision?
When you think it's your imagination
so strong, so real
Did you think it was a dream?
All you want is to feel
From a tent to another, I move.
It’s raining,
and sometimes, snowing.
It doesn’t matter how cold it is,
because I am cold.
I have only one blanket,
when I sleep,
one sweaters,
when I move from a tent to another,
under rain,
and sometimes snow.

Wait! I am day-dreaming.
I don’t live in a tent anymore.
I live in a makeshift home.
I have more blankets.
I have more sweaters.
My life is better,
but I still feel cold.

I look out from the dusty window,
that looks like those in jails,
in my room I share with my brother.
It’s sunny outside!
It’s hot!
but why am I cold?

I am still looking outside from the same window.
More makeshift houses appear,
all around,
“Our refugees’ rights?”
written in Arabic, I read on the walls around.
By then, I realized I am still called a refuge.

I saw people marching,
holding banners,
asking for human rights,
holding Palestinian flags,
and wearing the Kofeya.
I realized I am still a refuge.
I see people,
forced to leave their homeland,
to another,
where they live with no rights,
to have jobs,
to build houses.

I see kids,
looking at the protesters,
not knowing what they are looking at,
but I know they realize that,
they are still refugees,
in a neighbouring country,
oppressed and cold.

When streets in Palestinian refugees camps around Palestine are filled with loud voices in recent days, it's not celebration but protests, bearing the message "Enough, we want dignity".
You will always be my superstar,
the one who stole my heart
and gave me infinite love
for a lifetime, a true prince
ruling over a towering nation,
so strong and radiant, majestic
and benevolent, an amazing
existence growing upon the land
where tree branches sway
with the wind, the shimmery seas
dancing in boundless degrees.
I know we may never exist
together, but I’m holding
onto the memories when you
stepped into my light
and made all things bright,
the days when I was going
down and you always knew
what to say to turn it around.
I’m never letting go of our love.
I will forever be yours as you
are to me – two flames shining
so brilliantly in the horizon.
I pour my heart out onto paper.
It’s safe there.
You know I heard a bird today,
Told me what you had to say.
You know I heard some awful things about myself,
Things I didn’t even know until now.
You know I heard they came from you,
Someone I called friend til now.
You know I should have been angry when I heard the words you released to the world,
But instead I’m just sad and confused.
You know it broke my heart a little,
To hear the things you said.
You know I think I’ll lay down for a little,
So I can try to ignore this all instead.
