Dispatches for the Colonial Office

                             The Toenail Clippers of Damocles

He who would sit upon a throne of power
Reigning his people from the sovereign’s seat
Let him not neglect in a careless hour
To practice good hygiene upon his royal feet

For suspended above him by a horse’s hair
CLIPPERS, which through and under his toenails pass
Thus beneath that weapon hov’ring in the air
He is cautioned not to be a horse’s (posterior)

And so reposing upon his royal couch
Let not the king be heard to whimper “OUCH!”
Several delightful poets on HP have mentioned Damocles recently, so I felt compelled to add a trifle to our shared culture. THE TOENAIL CLIPPERS OF DAMOCLES will, I'm sure, eventually be featured in literary studies at all levels, and DAMOCLES' TOENAIL CLIPPERS DAY will be observed annually in perpetuity.
I am not sweet,
But I am kind.
I am not filtered,
I will speak my mind.

I don’t need saving,
I’m questing alone.
I’m bad with directions,
But I’ll still find home.

Don’t disrespect me-
Get the **** out of my way.
I’ve had too many distractions
Using my heart as their play.

I wear this armor
Locked around my soul,
But if I’m being honest,
True acceptance is my goal.
Maybe I am sweet though sometimes unkind, this armor I wear fails time after time.
In the hedge row
Lovely juicy blackberries grow
The nettles are unforgiving
But push them aside
And find where the blackberries hide!

A nice apple and blackberry crumble
Is worth crossing a bumble bee
But go careful
Pick them careful, where he can’t see!
It’s a heat wave
But I’m brave
Turned the jacuzzi down to thirty
Nice and cold
Oh I’m bold
I got in
Like a fruitful sin
And immersed myself
In the cool water
With the jets going well
And the sun beaming down
It felt so good
It felt so cool
It felt so nice
As sun plays a dual
It’s hot
So hot hot hot
We shouldn’t moan
It’s summer is it not?
Someone asked if I know you today

Which was odd

I said no

I only once knew you
And I wish I never knew at all
