You begged me,

to fall in love with the
moon.

So I could get

accustomed to having all of
you,

but then, none
at all too..

The desert opened up her arms to me
and it was the color of a bruise

pink and blue
yet still could see your  changing face
the way eyes in the mountains
watch from a distance the size of god
then,
close enough again
to answer to the caves we left in one another

quiet drives leading to another end
a silent pursuit to fill with sand
It is here the graves of our ancestors are warm
their bones spell out to say:

love laid to rest will rise again in the spring
(The way the desert flower will collect dew
and tell no one)

and this is the way I love you
this is the way I love you

When you're around
Someone slips down the thermostat
Plays it like a violin
Drifting a decent toward
The most poignant Minor cord.
I feel lost within myself
Like an island watching a beautiful ship
Sail by without stopping.

And yet-
You leave and it aches;
Hurts like the thud of pulse
Behind a ripening bruise...
Feels as though my heart is about to
Rend my ribs and squelch
Painfully though the cracks
To slither away in your general direction.

In your absence
I realize that simple things
Can grow into necessity.
Tiny seedlings who take root
Can somehow cross time to become
A redwood with roots so deep
The foundation of the earth is never the same
When it falls.
Air is everywhere
And yet when its gone
Beneath tidal waves
It's more precious than gold;
Riches mean nothing when you're drowning.

When trust was a thing
I'd report my day
Starting off with my busy morning.

When trust was a thing
I'd share any little story
Without a second thought.

The thing about betrayal is that
All in all,
It sticks with you

Causing hesitation
And distrust to be a newfound fixation.

Months will go by, and still
That memory of disloyalty
swarms in like an annoying fly.

Those walls that were broken down
Are repaired

And all of a sudden your stories and day
Are no longer shared.

When trust was a thing
My excitement was high,
My door was ajar
Letting anyone in

When trust was a thing
I'd report my day
Starting off with my busy morning.

But you see,
The thing about betrayal,
Is that it's everything that it seems.

All in all, it sticks with you without a fail.
green is more grass than a garden's fecundity.
the sun... more moon than a woman's breast.
the eternal resolves like a crime scene.
and we weep for no one but the god
we loved least.

and Love is the few of Us.
a plank on a pirate ship
where we no more enjoy the piracy.
But
we ride where the wave dangles
and succumbs...

nothing is as pure as believing in nothing
because you can.

like a strong wind in a soft heart.
the wrong thing breathes
like the  right love.

so what do you think I'm doing without You ?

Is it something that has a name
and doesn't drink ?
how dare you propose that the world has a yes
when no is so much of me now
like a yes.

we consume the trivial and glorify the gone.
but i am attuned to the never
like a black swan.
