I LIKE TO SAY YOUR NAME

I like to say
your name

when you're
not here

turn you
into sound

conjure you out of
thin air

so that you appear
before me

dressed in sound
only

memory sketching in
the rest of you

as if sound
was just an outline

and love
colours you in

adding the voice last
so I can hear you say.

"Hello you..!"
and there you are

as present
as present

can be.

I like to say
your name

when you're
not there.
They say that I’m
Too much to
Handle

Yet they never seem
To handle me with
Care

They say that I’m
Unable to
Trust

Yet they break it the
Moment I’m not
There

They say that I’m
Far too
Insecure

Yet they won’t
Help me
Heal

They say I’m
Cold and
Uncaring

Yet they ignore
What I
Feel

They say that I‘m
unable to
Listen

Yet they are the
Ones who can’t
Hear

They say I’m
Afraid of
Love

Yet there is
so much to
Fear...
Sometimes people make as though we are unable or unwilling to love yet  they and others have treated us in a way that has made us so apprehensive to lend our hearts out. Love is a two way street...

Vanilla Extract

under extreme duress,
word-boarding extreme,
she issues up reluctantly a true confess

her secret ingredient
in everything is
vanilla extract

where do you source this
in quantities so ample,
keep it well hid,
for all I see
after cupboard investigatory
solitary tiny brown bottle
shelved alone, forlornly?

wearing a vanilla smile,
that persists for quite the while,
she crinkly eyed laughs

“I extract vanilla
nearly everyday,
for when I awake to a
fresh poem from a poet
who loves me,
I draw all the vanilla out,
then feed it back to him
in the foods I supply,
so his poetry is for ever
sustainable”
Hush my Love,
Hear my heart's throb
Feel my body's warmth
I'll cry in your stead
Feel the comfort that I give
My sincerity you shall receive
It's my farewell indeed
For this precious jewel

If people were colors

You would be bright blue

And as a simple grey

I would probably get lost in you

I saw a man and his drowning dog walking in the rain
Teardrops on his cheeks and a storm raging in his brain

It’s winter and the snow embraces my already cold heart
And while I’m walking through white weeping woods
Where lust and laughter is forever doomed
I can’t help myself from thinking back to the time
When the sun lightened the world and you were still mine
Once upon a time
