I can count the
Freckles on your face
While your fingers can
Follow the pattern of the
Slashes on my back
I'm afraid you may take a while, though...
Truth is now, I been Looking
I never thought I’d know love
Then you came in
When I was so unsettled
My heart is my battle
To go through changes
To feel what I feel
So unsettled
You reached out to me
This is where I am
You helped me when I fell
It’s your love, that changed me
I’m going through changes
To be the best I can
This is now
Everyone needs a little time away
To help your mind get through a day
Sometimes we take baby steps
Along the way

I wandered through fields of golden light,
Chasing dreams beneath the amber sky.
Hope fluttered in the cooling breeze.
I reached toward fading stars.
Night whispered to me.
Silence held on.
Time dissolved.
I breathed.
Alone.
Gone.
.
I have these complicated feelings
they unfurl in my chest
begging to be let out
I release them from the ribcage
with a pen and paper
my poems are their escape
it makes me feel lighter
like happiness can fill me
instead of the dark curling tendrils
of despair
I have loved you
From the moment our eyes
Met across the crowded street
On that scorching summer day

And though summer
Soon came to a bitter end
I have loved you through
Every season ever since

And I guess I always will
