Chameleon
Jen Aug 2018
Somewhere,
Some place,
Breaking
Glass cages,
Holding us
Back,
Then
Maybe-
Things
Would
Change,
In these places,
Many different
Faces.

What are you feeling?

Just let me
Be like a
Chameleon,
Molding,
And shaping
With
Each situation.

It's the only way-
Automatic,
Adaptation.

For once,
Coming out,
Of hiding.

Magenta
Streaks
Revealed.

Fall
Jen Aug 2018
Shooting
Down
To disappear,
Passing through
Space and time.
Momentum moving
Them,
Perseids fly.

Darkened night,
Sparkling clear
Through blackness,
Near.

Like our lives,
So fragile,
They too,
Disappear.

Hide-And-Seek
Jen Aug 2018
Happy Game,
Of hide-and-seek.

Tall statues
Surrounded
By grass...
Will you
Come and find
Me?

Where are you hiding?

I'm here.
Where are you?

I enjoyed our
Morning
Exchanges,
As we
Tried to
Find each other.

You asked,
Did I see you?

Yes, but not
Until you found
Me.

Gemini
Jen Aug 2018
A sky
Scattered
With Constellations,
That's where
I found
Gemini.

Do you really believe
There is
Truth to this?

Pointing up
Above, to
Find
Love.

Falling to
The ground
Soft with
Green
And
Little flowers,
You place one
In your own
Hair and
Laugh.

Me next?
No thanks.

You want to
Kiss here
With
All these
People around?

Lost and found,
We wait
Until we
Are above ground
On a Ferris Wheel
As it spins
Then stops
With time.

My Gemini.

Telescope
Jen Aug 2018
Venturing,
Into a
Telescope-
Resplendently
Lit,
Inside,
Glowing.

Only to see
Totality.

Revolving
Geometric
Etchings-
Colliding,
Rapidly
To reveal,
A star.

Eternity--

Pulling,
You Up,
From
Underlying
Beams-
To
The Outside,
Of Vividly
Portrayed
Depictions-
Anomalous Landscapes,
Embedded.

Heart Box
Jen Jul 2018
Across an ocean deep,
Heart in box,
You keep.
Sometimes words haunt you, intruding during your day.  This little poem crept into my mind and wouldn't leave until I wrote it down.

Visage
Jen Jul 2018
Hinged
On the edges,
Of wings.

Severed
By grace-
Unrelenting,
Unseen.

Turning
A light on,
Lifting it up
To heaven.

Life
Is a given.
We can
Only try to learn-
The lessons.

Healing by
This preface,
To change,
Shape,
And guide us
To our fate.

Letting go,
Of
This worldly
State...

To see
A window's pane,
Fast moving,
A train.

Capturing a moment-
Just as I dreamed it.

Sunlight pouring in
To reveal a view,
A Visage-
Only to see
The same,
Appear the next day,
Always there.

I have no fears
With you.

Muse
Jen Jul 2018
Lost, you're lost?
You only
Walk in the dark?
In the park...
Your loss,
When it comes
To me, you say.

Wanting a fantasy
To bring bliss,
In this real life.
All you want
To do
Is “Play.”
Then you vanish, always.

Clear azure
Throughout,
It’s like the
Sun won’t sink
Into this soft
White sheet
As it floats
On a breeze
Hanging up on
Invisible Fishing Line,
And all I can see
Is a tunnel on it,
Upon it,
Shining partially in,
Not penetrating.

I can’t see
Through to you,
Past apathy,
Words fading,
Never truthful.

Keeping me on
Your hook,
With a worm
Filled with
False promises
Fading with time.

Holding the reins,
That lead to
Empty ends
And “Play-Pretends,”
Forgotten…
Trying so much
To dissolve
This Tunnel Vision,
To see past
You.

You’re the muse,
I can’t let go.

Why? I don’t know…

Veins
Jen Jul 2018
We all have
Veins,
Underneath
Our skin.

I try to forget,
But keep
Remembering.

Used to be
Pulled down
With each
Word like a knife.

Now I'm
Lifting myself
Up-
Although,
Each day
Is a
Fight.

Just have to
Keep on,
Moving towards
The Light.

Sometimes
I hear
Your words
In my mind,
Then
Those of another,
And another,
It's the same
Every time.

There is
A spirit
Though,
That's always
By my side.

Firefly
Jen Jul 2018
Passing through thick and thin, only
To be brought back to a far-off cry.
Don’t worry, this shall pass with time.
It flies fast with life’s distractions nearby.

Taking flight on tattered wings—
How sweet, the angels sing in harmony.
Their songs we will never know, so pure.
Untarnished in their world untouched.

Disconnected, wires and airwaves on fire.
A teardrop now unknown to cold souls,
It is easy to succumb to the robotic routine,
Life’s expectations drill us to our cores, unseen.

The touch of a hand is becoming
A cumbersome and time-consuming task,
A soft kiss no longer holds much meaning
In this plastic, pornographic societal *******,
We live in.

One day, will true love be a myth as
Onlookers sit and view a big screen
Unable to comprehend what it means?
To hold someone close, hearts beating deep.

Curtains close, black-sky-lined entertainment,
As they drive home to all the world’s last diamonds,
Embedded stones and gold of the earth,
Resources completely depleted.

Synthetic. Material. Superficial. Pasted. Plastered.
Artificial.  Numb. Cold. Materialistic.  Empty.

Words whisper throughout the day,
As if a shield and armor bringing about
A spiritual message through a voyage
Speaking to a place that feels so real,
Untouched like a firefly let go from
A glass jar meant to climb high to heaven.

Begin Again
Jen Jul 2018
Sometimes,
I look up
To distant stars,
Letting myself
Wander off
But, not too far…
So now,
I begin again,
Creating
The best version
I can be.
It feels great.
Not living for them,
No longer a slave
To their words,
Constantly
Beating down
Like stones upon
Ice water.

So I, so I,
So I…
Begin again.

Sanctuary
Jen Jul 2018
Feet
Stepping
Down
To meet
The soft ground.

Warmed
By the Sun-
Permeating
From Up
And Underneath
Tall Aspen trees,
Following
A Beautiful Stream,
Mossy Rocks
Covering
Natural
Staircases
Leading to
A Tranquil Place
That calls
You near.

Resting there,
Removing
The walls that
Confine you.

It's a Sanctuary-
Peace,
Comes and
Finds you.

Holding On
Jen Jul 2018
When you know it,
It’s hard to let go.

Reaching out-
Through the distance,
To hold your hand.

Saying “Yes”
In an instant,
Although it’s not easy
To Understand.

Not having to question-
Your intentions.

Holding On,
With You.

If Only in a Dream
Jen Jul 2018
I closed my eyes,
And it was suddenly clear.
The Grand Precipice,
On the Edge of the Horizon Near-
As I escaped into
The “Outer Space.”

So far from here,
To somewhere in-between,
And when I returned
I gasped for air
To catch my breath as
It had left.

I watched it all
Come to be,
As it unfolded
Before me
In a series of images
That were all but
Erased upon waking
As if mirages.
Still present,
Yet unclear-
Only to disappear once near.

I felt complete
In this colorful picture show
As it surreally unfolded
Like paper snowflakes
Falling from “Nowhere,”
Unraveling
Through mid-air.

I held on…
If only in a dream.

Unicorn
Jen Jul 2018
Whirlwind,
Sky is grey,
Then the sun
      Emerges some,
And it’s a beautiful day.
Windows down,
Listening to
That song,
The one that’s
Always on.
Makes me think
Of an idea,
Ever fleeting…

Long lost melody,
Repeating…
Emotions always bleeding.

Ending
        Before
             Beginning.
Vertical lines,
Confine
Trees of shadowy green.
Sidelines to the street.

Waiting for
A unicorn,
To appear.

Maybe you’re right.
There is no such thing,
In this life
As fantastical tales
Come to life,
Because there is always
A dark side
We hide.

Miracles
Jen Jul 2018
The spaces
Where seconds
Pass.

The Blink
Of
An Eye
Never
Phasing us,
As we
Forget to
Breathe.

Monotonous.
The Day,
Fades.

Stopping
For a Second,
To look at
Our hands,
Fingers
That move,
Miracles
That go
Unnoticed
As we rarely
Take the time to
Acknowledge
Them.

A silent gap
Between
The music...

Does anyone
Take
The time,
To listen
To it?

Face red
And hungry.
You direct
His gaze back
To the project.

With

Where
Did the

The ones

And not

Ghosts
Jen Jul 2018
Thoughts-
Always,
Crossing over,
To the opposite
Side,
Of the Spectrum.

Unknowingly...

Like ghosts-
Figments,
There,
In the mind.
(Visiting only for a short time)

Built a bridge,
For you
To climb
Across.

Laying bricks,
So high-
Never
To collapse,
Again.

A voice,
Echoes
Following behind,
Never to
Subside,
Calling
From within.

Throughout.
Through them.

Just Ghosts...

Time Confetti
Jen Jul 2018
Sinking,
Under recesses,
To discover
The crevices,
Of Time-
Seen
In rusted "pieces"
Of Tattered Playgrounds,
From long ago.

The Merry-Go-Round
Turned Round',
Again-
And again...

We can never
Rewind the tape,
Just remember it.

Tire Graveyards,
And Landfills
Of broken-down
By-products,
Of our Being.

Confetti Cream,
And
"Stories to Convince,"
Created Daily,
But true words
Live forever.

Insights
Jen Jul 2018
Wheels hit
The ground,
Over
And over
Repeatedly
Until
Coming to
An End.
Life All Around,
From
Many cultures
And backgrounds
Unfamiliar, Beautiful.
What are you
Making with bacon?
"Bacon and pancakes."
"Oh, you are shy?"
Just a chuckle.
Women,
Their bodies covered
Head to Toe
Surrounded by
Laughing Children.
Noodles and
The smell of
Cooking fish
Carried
With a breeze,
On a quiet day,
Unassuming
And simplistic.
In a daze,
Excuse me,
"You have to get off the bus."
"Oh, so sorry."
Tall buildings,
New mazes.
Numbers and Letters
All going to different
Places.
Sad patches
On some streets-
Others
Where people stroll
Merrily, arms interlinked.
"This is my city though,"
The cab driver
Recites after
Giving his personal
Insights
On plights-
Honest and open.
In a small corner
Building
Punk bands play,
And
It doesn't matter
Who you are
As there
Isn't any segregation,
Everyone is accepted,
A man dressed like
***** Wonka
Stands front row...
Another person
Wears knee high
Socks and sandals
Dancing in
A unique way.
All ages, all races.
Different backgrounds.
Various conversations
About many subjects
And no one judges.

Neural Bridges
Jen Jul 2018
Sickened
In the bones,
Aching,
And sore.

Crying
Uncontrollably,
Asking,
"What for?"

Laughing
Without
End,
At other times.

Fled
From the rush,
Attempting
To overcome it.

In the beginning,
Dopamine
And Oxytocin
Lined a glass ledge
Like Sugar and Salt.

Naturally produced,
Lost
Clear sight.

Shortly later,
Norepinephrine
Drenched
And dried
On the string
Of a kite,
Then took
Flight.

Howling
Jen Jul 2018
Howling,
To
The Unknown.

Do you want
To run
With them
Tonight?

A pack
Transforming
With moonlight.

Calling you
Forth,
To join
The hunt.

Resounding,
In the night-
It’s a forest
Full of
Dirt paths
And
Dew Soaked
Leaves.

Getting Lost,
And it’s okay,
Here in
The underbrush.

“I can’t forget you.”
“I don’t want you to.”
Living here and now.

Concrete
Covering,
A Paved jungle

Of
Justifications
And
Free lance
Creations.

You open your eyes,
To discover
Reality lies.

The sun
Scorching
Your eyes.

Traces
Jen Jul 2018
An intro
Of instrumental
Snow—
Captures
This Void,
And it’s not
Winter
Anymore.

Tracing
This triangle,
Temporarily
Drawn in.

The pavement
Expanded
To the Milky Way,
And I escaped
The presence,
Inside.

Warmth
Of fire
Over cold
Steel,
Unveiling
Someone’s
View,
Still.

Sparks
Flew over
Desert Dust,
A phantom
In this present time.

Saguaros
Lined Hills
At Dusk.

Manifesting,
Stolen hearts
Stealing others’.

Otherworldly,
As if
To discern
No difference
Between
This life
And the last.

Surface
Jen Jul 2018
Surface-
Smooth, Nonporous
Doesn’t breathe,
Like you-
Like me.

If it did,
Please forgive me
As it would take
In the air
To discover
Thoughts
Only meant
To remain
Here.

You keep building,
While I break down
To enter
A new
Phase,
The best one,
Yet.

Feet enter
A new door,
Revolving
And uplifting-
It’s like
A
New Dimension,
To see.
As if it’s
All
Falling
Into
Place
Like
It’s meant to
Be.

Looking
Out
And
Over,
Up,
And under—
To discover,
A New
Day.

It hasn’t been
Easy,
Never will
Be,
But the past,
Is Now
But
A Memory.

Dreamscape
Jen Jul 2018
Sand through
Fingers
Finding
It all
Gone
Away,
Back to
The Sea
With
The West Wind.

Eyes opening-
Murky waters
Drowning out
Clear sight.

Before it
Was my
Dreamscape.

Droplets
Clear and
Showering,
Building up
To new
Heights.

Unfamilar,
A new flame.

This shadow
Replays
Night
After
Night.

It vanishes
With time
Only
To call
Me
Near again.

He's standing over
You,
Offering a kiss
As you leave
The room,
Rings falling
Upon a
Wooden
Tabletop.

"It's just a vision,"
You tell yourself
As you
Lay fully alert,
Sending
Words
Honestly
Wrote.

It's dangerous,
Stay away-
But he keeps
Watching you,
Calling you
Back into his arms.

The silence
Soothes you
To sleep.

Now on
Never-ending,
Repeat.

It's just
A
Dreamscape.

I should
Stop thinking
And sleep.

Now or
Never.

Which is better?

Don’t go chase
It.

Don’t force
It.

Wait for
It.

Water runs
In a river beautifully,
From a faucet,
Empty.

It streams down,
Like crystal life.

Leading to a desert,
Arid, dry.

There is no one
There,
Still.

Just the memory,
Of something
Not meant,
To be real.

Are you afraid
To be seen?
With me…
Taking a hand,
Leading somewhere
New.

If you take this one,
Please be true.

Escape
Jen Jul 2018
They say,
"Good things
Come to those
That wait."

A Dream
Came True,
In a place
Hidden
From disgrace.

Is this
The end
Of
The escape?

Merely
Blinded
By walls?

Just as
The memory fades,
A sound calls
As if telepathic.

Reach
Jen Jul 2018
Don't worry,
Anything
That you want,
Or "think"
You need,
Is all within
"A mind's reach."

A coal drenched
Back splash,
Represents
A Backdrop
In the night.

The hands of
A clock can stop,
But time
Continues on,
So close your eyes.

What is it that you're reaching for?

Transparent, Turquoise
Lines the air-
A contrast
Against
Something
Not there...

The rest is
Up to you.

— The End —
