As humans we all have good days,
We all have bad days.
We all have happy days,
We all have sad days.
We all have fun days,
We all have boring days.
Our lives are never fully within our control.
Things change in an instant.
You could be having a terrible day and then you see a note on your car from a special someone.
You could be having a wonderful day and then you get news of the loss of a loved one.
None of these things are in our control. There's no way of knowing how, who, or what will come up in our daily lives.
We do control one thing though.
We control how we perceive the unexpected events and happenings in our life.
We can choose to see the good.
We can choose to take a deep breath and learn to accept the things we cannot change.
Acceptance and attitude can change the world.

Her
You borrow my jacket
Do you borrow anyone else's?
You tell me to come closer, you're cold
Do you ask any others the same?
You ask me to do ridiculous things
Do you ask any others the same?
You look at me in ways I hope are only for me
Do you show any others the same?
You laugh with me with such joy in your voice
Do you laugh the same for any other?
You hold me close to you when we are lying all alone
Do you hold any others the same?
You press your lips to mine and I can feel the passion
Do you kiss any others the same?
I know it's not true, and you are not to blame.
This is all just a cause of my overthinking brain.

The same routine
I sit and scheme
My words will set me free.
I have my mind
I have my pen so nothing can silence me.
Words are drawn on the page created one by one.
They tell the story of a broken man.
On a search for something different, something new.
Day in and day out the same routine at hand.
It's time for him to grow up
It's time to be a man.
Change is part of life and that's just how it goes.
But when life doesn't change at all that's when he begins to question it all.

God
I took a walk one morning
The sun still asleep covered in a blanket of clouds
Oh yes I did weep
My tears hidden deep by the thick of the fog
My mind had been racing I thought I saw god
As the figure approached not a word could be heard
The air was tense and I was in a trance
As I looked upon the creature before me
I saw something different
Something about him just seemed familiar
I realized too late that I could relate
A physical manifestation of all of my fears
It had come to greet me and all of my peers
No longer felt joy no longer felt bliss
All I could do was stand there amiss

Within your presence I am safe.
Within your arms I am safe.
Within your home I am safe.
Within your heart I am safe.
Without you I am lost.
A broken vase
I'm so displaced.
Will I ever feel this way again?
No one knows not even my kin.
So still I sit surrounded by sin
My cup is filled with too much gin.
I take a sip and then I grin
Wondering who I am again.
