Sparkling, shimmering, shining..
Tortured, pleading, and full of sadness.
Each unique and full of beauty..

Quietly screaming,
Intensely studying,
Learning, yearning, burning.
Searching for a new depth.

Open and yet, unseen,
Unable to make that connection.
Disengaged and detached,

Clawing

     encapsulate blind words.

The profundity of the mystery,
Lined with a silver band,
Bright and vibrant..

Overcoming,
Conquering,
Forging, Pushing, Striving.
Constantly evolving.

She folded my little pudgy toddler hand and said, "this means 'I love you' in sign language". And since then, it's been every special goodbye and family signal. They've spread out farther as I got older, but every once in a while I'll get to see my Mommy hold her big, scarred hand up so I can see that she loves me. My eyes will fill up with happy tears because this is us and this is love and this cannot be changed.
More of an anecdote but still special enough to share <3
abuse is a picture that I am forced to paint
with colors I have never seen.
if I draw fists into open arms,
if I sketch an apology in between berating,
if I fill in every empty space with love,
no one will come running for
the child who cried help.

abuse is a phantom limb
still covered in bruises.
white coats and clipboards wonder
how it can still ache when it is no longer there,
infecting me with their doubts.
sometimes it feels heavier
than it did when it was a part of me.

depression eats at my weight until my skin is taut,
boarding up my eyes and locking my mouth.
blame has found solace in this blood,
guilt mutating my thoughts.
my potential used to live here,
but abuse has a reverse Midas touch
where everything that could have become gold
withers in its hands.
Fleet afoot she dances in the grass, lightly touching down. Dressed in golden lace and adorned with hair the color of honey she laughs and leaps, barley leaving a mark on the earth, the sun is her partner embracing her all of the day long. Then as the days light slowly fades, she settles down like a delicate flower; finding her place and folding up her petals, she takes her rest. Waiting on the new day to dawn when she will once again as child of nature frolic spreading joy and laughter again.
An all powerful being on a radiant throne, how dare he judge me! A malicious and cruel being who dictates my life, what gives him the right? The truth is a simple one for some and complicated for others, we have a choice, to believe or not, to obey or not, to love or not. The answer is yes or no for us and he judges because he loves us and we are reluctant to judge ourselves.
shoes, dice, match & balm
to sing the song of laughter
light illumination
filter through sullen brevity

we made our way out on the stage
the audience was quiet
one word spoken in darkness has come to light
shadows break to summon it's call

the fragrance of laughter
sentiments of pleasant lavender
we chose this path in which to tread
what is going on inside our head

hold back the pain inside with a smile
to know all the great while
pencil, eraser, cup & sugar
the fragrance of laughter

a beacon of light to a hurting world in need
long lines being formed in the sand
shelter lies dormant amidst it's beckoning plow
no one likes a know it all
