Where do I start
I'm amazed that you gave me a part
A part in your universe
Everything that I see is just an apple in the cart
A grain of sand in the desert
When I look out into the stars
All I see are your wonders
And that's just a scratch on the surface

Do you ever feel so alone, even though you're surrounded by people?

So alone, that you feel like you're drowning?

So alone that, no matter how much you scream for help, those people won't hear you?

No? Then you're lucky... Me? Not so much...

~Corrie Anne
I've been broken so many times, I don't open up to anyone anymore... I'm alone
People tell me I'm a
strong person but they
never know that i cry in
the middle of the night
just because i miss you..............
Crumpled on a ***** door mat,
left by the cats -
the owl is just a loose bag
of feathers now - empty talons curled,
and one fierce eye turned
over its shoulder.

"What soft flesh enticed you to the ground?"

Lifting the mat, I remember
waking at night to the trilling call – a silvery vein
wrapped in the dark energy of hunger.

“All things die and too soon...” I say aloud,
my own eye sinking into that inky well. The
vacant perch leaning over my shoulder.

"What is to become of my flesh, my soul?"

"It's the waking that counts," I think, "and the meeting."
For a moment I wake again - grateful for the living.

A sudden immersion in the unknown,
the bitter taste of confusion,
in the flavor of doom.
Pay your obeisance to the Lord,
you'll be paid back with prosperity.

The priest towers above the throngs of devotees.

Within the Lord's precinct is a rush for repentance
the arrogant bows down here
the wealthy falls on the ground
the poor renews plea.

The priest preys on their prayer
the Lord's coffer is full.

In that heavenly scene,
all sins are forgotten.
