Sun kissed,
The warm wind skating on my skin
One hand on the shoulder,

The other one holding on tight to this moment.

A day for the books,
In mine nonetheless

Our past months rumbling in my helmet,
Taking me on this ride to where we are heading.

I close my eyes to see

Art would last forever
But i learned feelings don't always do
And even if i painted you in hues
With every classic medium of art
This old tradition of painting
You on my canvas
As well, would never last

And even if i used digital art now
Where it would be fast

Reminded me that

Stars burst and fell to Earth
I caught the droplets on my tongue
Felt them seep deep beneath my skin
Filling my veins with constellations

they birth red dust devils
for my eyes to follow, as they scud
through mesquite, and hopscotch over canyons
older than time

one day, soon, they will blow
over a shallow earth bed; I will not hear
their sibilant song, but my sleep will be deep,
unperturbed by their mystic music
