Hey
Who are you?
But I'm me
You can't be me
Yet you feel like home
You feel like me
How can you be me, if I'm me?
You say you are a part of me
I don't get it
How

Oh
You are me
A part of me
I love you
I love me
Yet you tear me apart
Am I tearing myself apart?
I don't know myself anymore
I feel like you
I want to be you
Skylar
Sky
So far yet so close
Skylar
Who am I?

Hey
I'm Skylar
I am me
He is me
She is me
Two in One
I've had you with me all this time
Yet I couldn't see you
I'm sorry

Oh
They're tearing me apart
What
Who
Do I want to be?
I don't know who I am

Hey
I guess this is who I am
Oh
I get it
It's called
Bigender
It feels so right
Yet so wrong at times

Skylar looks down at himself
Why do they have to be there?
She is Skylar now too
It makes me feel better
Yet it tears me apart when I don't know
Help
Stay away

Skylar
We are who we are
We love who love us
We love who hate us
We love our Gender

Call us Girls
Call us women
Call us Ladies
We are TransWomen

Stop being confused
Stop being surprised
Stop calling us He or It
We hate that pronoun

We are females we as others
We deserve our rights like others
We deserve love and affection
We deserve Respect like others

We are tired of your nicknames
"Is a he or a she", "what is this?"
It hurts please stop stop stop!
We are fine ladies! Full stop !

You scared our fellow ladies
They are crying in closet
They are lonely in families
Because we are Transgenders!

Stop abusing my brothers
They men and so proud to be
Don't be confused by what you see
A transMan is a powerful Man!

Respect them now and forever
Stop calling them ladies or things
They are men **** and classy
They are men always and forever

See us slaying down town
We are lovely and attractive
We know who we are friends
You can't change us Sit down!

Don't be confused by Breast
That the **** chest of our brother!
He is strong enough to be proud
We love our bodies and gender

We won't hide because you hate us
The more you see us feeling proud
The better you understand us
We are Proud Transgenders!

We ladies need our Freedom
Government think about us
All women are equal in the country
We need all care and attentions!

Stop calling us Monsters
We are human beings
We deserve our Rights
We are citizens like others!

This ain't western culture
This ain't Sodoma and Gomollah
This is the  gender of Us
We are Proud Transgender people!

Pastors stop that hate preach
That hell you need us to go in
That Sodoma you always sing
All were from Those Bibles

If you accuse all LGBTI people
To bring back ***** or Gomollah
First remember that bible you read
Was brought by Evangelists

We had gods and goddesses
Africa knew no White God
We had Love and respect
Read , reread and Rereread!

Love wins and will win
You are taking us nowhere
We are here to stay and slay
Ourselves Genger our Pride

We are done by your hate
Is our time to shine bright!
You gonna hate us today
And you will love us later!

TransWomen are women
TransMen are Strong men
Transgender is a Gender
Respect us we hurt no one!

"Transgender Right is Human right
TransWomen are women too
TransMen are men as well
We claim no war but our Freedom
We claim no hate but our Respect"

Poet : Skylar G Peter

Poem: we Are Proud Transgender people
Skylar is a 23yo transwoman originally from Rwanda but had recently fled to Uganda. Both countries are very transphobic and homophobic so I can only imagine how much she is struggling especially with her own safety. I would be most grateful if you can at least share this poem as much as you can to raise awareness. Thankyou

Hey Skylar,
I
  See
        You.
All of you.
Every. Single. Part
Of you.
You.
You.
You.
Look at you!
You're beautiful!
You're my muse,
Darling.
And I love every atom of you.

Condensation left, the window blind
smudging with a bare hand
the panes allow sight, to
the restlessness of the trees
and the blustering leaves
rain forming puddles

Seeing him wave, from across
the street with, board in hand
smiling upwards, glancing
the butterflies kick and twist
"Meadow, Meadow.."
"Shush, I know, he's outside!"

Her little sister was always
part of, the games too
she knew their ma, would
never allow Meadow out
barely allowed, away  from sight,
overprotective eyes

Cady patiently waited, beside
the park gate, as always
as he watched his girl, run
freedom and beauty in her
eyes, a manifestation of
the name she was graced with

Indigo jeans, bleeding
into the rain, as she splashes
through, puddles reflecting
her love, as he smiles with
bright eyes, embracing her
sweet sixteen kisses, connect

Racing through the field, kids
crazy in love, sketching names
into hollowed out trees,
drinking beer, sparking a
doobie, last nights skater
smoking session, come undone

Hours pass, dark skies blacken
street lights lead, a pathway
home, laughter echoes
she's to climb the tree, crawl
in through the window
slightly parted for her return

Great escapes, all well and good,
falling drunk and high, left
her misunderstood, no way
back in home, she calls
"Skylar, can you let me in!"
"Coming now.."

Their kiss lingered, Cady pulled
away, and waved looking back
as his skate board took him
back down the street, home
"You love him Meadow!"
"Skylar, I really do."

Eleutheromania - the intense and irresistible desire for freedom.
I had in mind a story of a young girl, battling a cancer, but needing to just know what being sixteen is, and the connection she has with her little sister to help her live some of what her mother keeps her from.
Innocence.

I can't seem to find the words for
When I look into your eyes.
The perfect blue and
Gray blends together,
To form something
Beautiful.

I see your wrists
And I smile.
You've been through so
Much.
I'm glad to have helped if
I have.
Even though seeing you
Sad
Makes me unhappy,
I know that in some way
You've become stronger.
I can see it in the way your
Cuts have healed,
And In the way you
Talk,
Smile,
Laugh,
Cry.

Everything you do shows you've become
Stronger
Than yesterday.

If I kissed your scars,
Would you turn away?
I want to show you how much I
Care for you,
Even if it's just as a friend.

I love you so much,
And I mean it dear.
I can't be with you but,
Our furture as friends will be eternal.

"Stop playing with your nuts son. You'll get them full of hairs",
Said SNL netball's most famous coach to his one and only heir.
"Pa... tell me another story...how the Scampers won the cup"
"Another one - there is only one", he said, lifting Junior up.

"But you tell it so well", Sean Jr said with a twinkle in his eye.
He has my wiley charm thought Coach, of that I cannot lie.
Coach Sean Shortt (Shortty) was full of pride - he gave his tail a twirl,
i'm really glad we had a boy though I'd have been happy with a girl.

He cleared his throat, "we'd reached the Finals in the year of ' 78,
Folks said it was 'cause I was chief but the team that year was great!
With Sammy Strain and Sereena Skylar; best Goal Attacks I ever saw
And Skittles Sloan - Wing Defence - what she couldn't do with a ball...!"

"Oh Dad! Fast forward to quarter 4 - the most exciting part !!"
Sean Jr was tired from school that day - Bless his little squirrel heart.
"Well it was even Stevens" Coach continued "only seconds on the clock.
I thought I'd never see the end my heart ticked with every tock."

"ShingleWood Sneakers were in terrific form - they hadn't yet been beat
But we played them at their own game and we really brought the heat.
Man marking and super fitness was the key to my strategy
Fair play as well but I fought for every single foul and penalty."

"Their main man was super tall - long tail - wore a medical mask,
For fear of seeming obtuse, I thought it prudent not to ask.
He never missed, this big GA - kept scoring goal after goal after goal.
I never seen the likes of him or his skills, son - Upon my soul!"

"His crowning moment a penalty - he surely couldn't miss, I'd bet.
He didn't!! And our hearts all sank like the ball, clean through the net.
Then they Gatoraded their coach but most of the liquid went the hero's way
Revealing a painted tail - a scandal!! - whispered about still, to this day."

"A raccoon ringer! - flown from the States, with a stripey lengthy tail -
To deceive the whole of our sainted league but their wicked plan had failed.
They were disqualified - to us, the cup -  I got Freedom of the Wood.
And though we ne'er won again - those memories still feel good."

Shortty gave the lad a loving look - bed time was fast approaching
- Stories have to end some time; so with Life and so with coaching -
"And what did we learn, my only son, on that fateful glorious day -
Apart from the obvious that squirrel tails arent monochrome, they're gray."

Junior huffed a pretend sigh because he really loved this tradition
And with a proper unpretend yawn he said without sedition,
"The moral of the story is to strive through thick and thin,
No Sir, winners never cheat - and cheaters never win !!"

...and so to bed...

I have the greatest friendship
with a local Lutheran pastor
because of her willingness
to contribute her thoughts
for an article I hurriedly wrote and published in 2017
on the Protestant Reformation.
She also allowed me the next year
to vent and cry my social troubles to her
for four hours at her office,
like a mother addressing her child’s cry.
In the brief time I have known Pastor Karen,
she continues to be the most passionate person
about living life positively
and about praying for animals.
Pastors will talk creation
at services I attend,
but it’s not too often I hear ministers
set aside social intentions to specify creational matters
as a Sunday prayer.
Pastor Karen is such an important person for me to know,
Being the first woman and Protestant minister
I ever truly befriended.

An Office Depot employee named Matt
remembers my name.
Matt gives business interaction
a whole new meaning:
The secret to his successful customer interaction
is the genuine tone of his voice:
Matt’s voice sounds as though
talking gives him purpose,
while he listens just as sincerely
Happily anticipating relatable life scenarios
from customers.

Skylar,
my friend who works at a homeless shelter,
gives inspiration to young adults like me.
She radiantly exemplifies job loyalty
As house-monitor every weekend.
I usually drop by to hand over donation goods
such as toys for the younger females of the shelter
and foods as peanut butter (a favorite!), alkaline water,
chicken tenders, organic raisin bran cereals,
and toiletries as toilet paper and Kleenex.
There have been times though
where I wanted to just see her.
I told her how I felt, once,
directly asking her in her office
while she was sipping her latte
If she’d want to meet up outside the women’s shelter
for a date.
Skylar informed me that my gesture was sweet,
but she prefers being single out of her own choice.
Skylar likes being single.
No blame there.
Each time I visit,
she’s either helping a resident,
cooking a meal for all in-house patrons,
or in her office
doing administrative work.
Though I don’t see myself as a rule-follower
when it comes to religious teachings
as fasting
or simple slip-ups
as tracking shoes in the house,
the way Skylar abides by company policies
Reminds me that even being a free young adult
has its boundaries
and responsibilities
on and off the clock.

I’ve heard it said
That the world is one big family.
I don’t deny that statement,
but until I meet everyone around the world, in the jungles,
departed, yet to be,
the family I have
are the ones who remember me.
I am a son, a friend, and a rewards member.
Out of a couple prompt options once again, I slelcted to have this poem be about inspirational people to me.

You're defensive.
And I get it.
The way I
Look into your eyes is
Not the same as I
Look into his.
The way he
Kisses my cheek and says,
"Hello!"
Is different from the time you
Cried and
I kissed you on the
Top of your head.

It's not the same.
For him it's lust. But
For you,
Well,
To be honest,
I am in love with you.

But I'm trying so hard not to be.
It was my first time
I was fifteen years old
And it was 8 inches.
Eight. Whole. Inches.
Laying motionless in my hands,
Long and lifeless as I stared excitedly, nervously
My first ...haircut
I spun around in the salon chair to see my exposed jaw, shoulders, neck
Holding in my hands a ponytail that would soon be sent to Locks of Love
My first legitimate haircut, not the simple snips my mom would attempt in the bathroom when split ends were too unbearable,
A real style
Back straight and shoulders proud,
Uncertainty left on the tiles beneath the feet of beaming confidence,
Leaving dead the sheet that covered scared eyes and shy smiles…ever since I've developed an addiction to change,
Can't leave it the same for more than two months
And the chime of the door behind me opened endless opportunities:
Brown, auburn, gold, red, blond, yellow
Black
Brown black, blue black, soft black, natural black, always back to black
Straight, curly, layered, cropped, feathered, fringed, shaved
Undercut, mohawk, faux hawk, that weird thing where I gel it to the side and kind of look like a boy...

And yeah, sometimes I get sick of the sexist comments
People telling me I've got a boy's haircut
That short hair is for men, but
So were the olympics and voting and public education and getting published,
And thriving in the workplace and wearing pants,
And god knows im not going to give up either my Levi's or my razor
I'm not going to keep worrying; man's words will stop me from doing what i love
And I've been called lesbian, boyish, butch, manly, androgynous, anti-effeminate,
But I know I don't stand alone.
So thank you, Natalie Portman, P!nk,
Rihanna, Katy Perry, Anne Hathaway,
Kaley, Megan, Erin, Kim, Skylar
I don't know all of you well,
But the risks you've taken with your hair
Are an inspiration to those who care
So short haired women,
Keep doing your thang.

— The End —
