i still say hello
to the tulips in
my kitchen,

speak to the
two sunflowers
in my garden

who grew
despite
my absence

I've run out
of what little
patience I had

yell at people on
the road and tell
people to get out of
the way at the store

convinced I am
probably meant to
be alone by the way

I still say hello
to the tulips in
my kitchen,

softly touch the
two sunflowers
in my garden
and smile by
their gentle adversity
and the way they don't
respond at all.

The first time I ever kissed a boy
I remember the sinking feeling
No rainbows or joy
There was no romance
No sparks or magic
Or fireflies that danced

The first time I kissed a girl?
Now that's a different story entirely
I felt a sudden explosion
Take place inside of me
I tasted happiness, serenity
I savoured passion and certainty.

I swear I felt the stars fizzle on my tongue
For the first time in my life
My heart understood
Where it should
Belong.

sticks and stones
may break my bones
(but words will never hurt me)

people stare when we hold hands, they glare and point and scream in whispers behind cupped palms. sometimes they applaud or congratulate us, but i hate that, too; i don't want to be brave or strong or special i just want to kiss you without glancing left and right first. boys in parking lots shout and whistle, cars honk but WE'RE RUBBER YOU'RE GLUE, IT BOUNCES OFF US AND STICKS TO YOU so guess what- you're the *****, you're the *******, you're the freaks, you have to change the pronouns in your poetry, you are afraid of churches, you were listed in The Diagnostic And Statistical Manual Of Mental Disorders as a "sociopathic personality disturbance" until its seventh edition. if i had a nickel for every time a mother hurried a child away from us on the street, i might have enough money to sue one or two of you for harassment and hate.

Once upon a time there was a transgender girl
Who cut off her curls

He looked everywhere for love
And only found one.

His parents rejected him
Society beheaded him
And nothing could keep him alive.

**But everyone forgot that he was human too.

lily
your lips moved against mine,
growing hotter and wetter
your tongue a velvet lash of tormenting pleasure
bruising my lips with a fine edge of violence
we kissed with power and passion and hunger and love
passionately mating with lips and tongues and tiny bites
our flavors mingling and quickened breaths filling our lungs

our bodies burned
souls turned to ash
