To the boy in my German class who critizised me for picking a male name instead of a female one.

I wonder how your head will ****
When you see your best friend Joey
Become Johanna

I wonder how your jaw will drop
When you see your son
Beg to be bought a dress

I wonder how your ears will suffer
When your daughter
Shows up at your home with her girlfriend

I wonder if you will care
You called me crazy
My name is Dirk

My name is Gender Roles
If you are born a female
I come with
Flowers

I come with
Barbies and pink accessories
I come with pink kitchen sets
and doll hair brushes and fake makeup

I come with pink
I come with pink
I come with pink
I come with pink

I come in fusha
I come in burgandy
I come in lilac
I come in white

For the added package
I come with liposuction
and days without food

I come with too tight clothes
and more labels than you can count
I come with kitchen jokes

I come with being judged if you
had ***
or
Haven't

But wait there's more

If you are male
I come with toy trucks
And remote controls
I come with not crying

I come with blue *****
And Sunday football games
And rough housing and be a man

Be a man
Be a man
Be a man
Be a man

I come in Testosterone black
I come in beaten up blue
I come in Grades don't matter green
I come in what're you looking at white

For the added package
I come with teasing
Required gym time
Peer preasure
Don't cry

I come with straightness
And close minded friends
I come with video games
I come with make the money

Pay for dinner
Pay for movies
Pay for living
Pay for squirming

I come with physical torture

Critizised
For having ***
or
Not having ***

My name is Gender roles and I come in a school room
My name is Izzie and I'm alive
My name is Christy and I'm crying
My name is Dirk and I am satisfied

My name is Gender roles
This requires insight. In my German 1 class we are allowed to pick German names to be called that for the remainder of the year. We had an option of choosing female names and male names. I chose Dirk. (Deerk pronounced)

She used to smile
to really smile
she used to love life.

But then one day,
From nowhere,
her life compleatly changed.

"I've got to be strong"
She said to herself
and so, her heart she locked away.

She was strong for years,
but as time went by
she started to fear

Her feelings wanted fredom
so she opened her heart for a little while
and then they came pouring...

Shouting and bitting
screaming and demanding attention
she couldn't take the preasure

So she wrote a note to her loved ones
and with tears in her eyes
she swallow the death pills

But her sister saved her
she went to get help
and they helped her

The fellings are strong
but now she knows,
she knows she is stronger.

let poetry rumble in me like thunder
Let the venom from the snakes run through my veins
Let me be moved through the dark shadow of peer-preasure
Let me run and not be caught
Let me hide and not be found
Let me be liberal
from everthing
from bye from the phony from hatred and
Le me love
Let me leave
Let me cry and be angry
Let me find myself
The preasure being released from my body feels like jumping into cold water
The release of what has nothing to do with me anymore is no longer limited
I am refreshed and cleansed of what weighed me down before I came up for air
I am a masterpiece waiting to be painted
I am an ocean that everyone swims in
I AM LOVE
I am the boat that carries you to that island
I am the impossible made possible
I am the unquestionable answer you have been waiting for
I am what you have been waiting for,
Because I am powerful
I am willing, AND able
I am beautiful, because I wanted be
I am here, because I chose to be
I am a light, because I am sick of the dark
Hold my hand as I dive into my next adventure
I want to take you with me to that Island
I want the cold water to release you from what was, and realign you with what is
How much more infinate could one possibly get?

I'm lost in my head.
My brain is an infinitely expanding sea
And
My spirit;
A squid.
Much like the depths
at which
giant squid swim
The preasure is extraordinary
The darkness, laughably stereotypical
I've been swimming for ages
But has it been
The same circle
All this time?

Shake me up
Shake me up
But don’t open me
Shake me up
Shake me up
But don’t come near me

Watch the bubbles fizz inside
Building up preasure
Until I explode
Throwing glass far and wide.

Or open me
Gently take off my cap
A little spritz of air
And joy
From here to there

But often times
A bottle is used once
Or never at all
Boy, what a shame
Not to be drank
But thrown at a wall

city

a man died. and careful not to see
what watchers might-may be
he passed on something

liked, attitude

no, no small talk

i've been to a lot of funerals
who hasn't
it's serious business
this death. isn't it, and after?
used to scare the **** out of me.
wher's a relly good loosly tied oxford colon
when you need one.

never in
platitudes please
someone at least to drag me from the grave
did i mention i died
one to stand me up and say, "**** it boy,
stand up, grow back like a frog's limb
stand up in the pond
the premordial soup
and i'll do the rest".

never in attitude. make me a phrofit
change me. mind me, will and all

take care of me and never tell me i've died at all
ok i havn't then
just like that
you've conquered death

tell e things right
right in my ear like, "do it. it needs it.
you can do it and they too.

you're not for death.
you're not dying
but the m on your keyboard is weak

watch a dream of faith.
no simple home-spun wisdom this time.
the stuff of a amn who thinks he lives
but really it's angels, carrying him
to spare him the whole dream of dying
let alone death

to spare him the loss of the familiar
by providing the whole of life again
while ounting the iposible; soft cussion into
eternity, already there
entirely undeserved
watch: watch my ****. i'll be right back
just a minute.
only the kids understand
the fact is there is no ****
it's only the angels
helping me into eternity

let's turn these phrases once more
under the preasure of imagined life
and add just one whole city
a whole city watching one person's self
and property just to ease his way into eternity

because the concept
to anyone that eternity is forever and change
is frigtening to the sane,
and nonsense to the crazy
and arresting in it's starkness
so, let's, "spare" him
they say and devise a grand play
to prove life not to him, but themselves.
and when he leaves,
where are the artists?
in eternity
in ernist
watching

watch my ****
i'll be right back

The Lord our God, always applies preasure.

To all of the right places to bring healing to.

The Lord our God, I pray shall always Protect you.

As well as Bless you and touch your hearts.

To keep you from losing that healing you gain.

The Lord our God, may always stay near you.

To always guide and comfort you in all things.

To help you through all of your hard times here.

So that through your strengthening right here.

That you shall always stay Men and Women of God.
