Olwen grew after mid-winter's passing the wind had sung her a child's name she knew her time was now come the man she picked was strong and wise and she had seen his death was anigh the great gift she would give him a girl child she would carry, birth and teach her first word would be the name of him who was to fall in the cattle raid to Seisysllwg no man to own her or claim her Olwen mothered a world of dreams a world of knowing she knew the seasons and the schemes of life growing hares and foxes would sleeep at her feet enemies before her would not fight but retreat Olwen's way was of care and of love her power of the earth and skies above no denizens of dark and deepest hate would stand her eyes that saw their fate fast eye clear sky brown flash passes by beast or bird we cannot see good Olwen watching over thee The child came in the autumn months gold- clad meadows bear the last of mother's bounty as she came into the world scythes cut the last bushel weak with the birth she carried the child to the stone on plynlimon's east side "let the source of the five feel the spirit of this child carry her through her life with power and love..." When Cariad was five she took her to the great marsh south of the Dyfi and watched as the child threw her father's sword back to his spirit further than any man could throw ask not for power for your arm ask for strength in your heart ask not for dominion over men seek love for the world ask not for thyself anything you would not give away freely no shadows came to dwell in the hills and vales where peace eternal dwelt with power of hearts Olwen slept after one mid-winter's passing She died when the spirits asked for her Cariad bore her to the Plynlimon stone where all wise women's bones will lie The rivers remember her eyes The trees remember her wisdom The birds remember her song The stars remember Her dreams The Stones of Deheubarth remember their Wise-Woman when Moon and Sun rise and the shadows flee

A Wedding Thought
Did you see me in the rainbow Did you feel me in the sun Did you hear me in the swallows call When all your chores were done. Did you hear me in the laughing brook or the changing of the tide For I am always here my love, forever by your side. Hear my name as grasses whisper gently stirred by summers breeze, as the skylark sings my love for you above the rustling trees. Here I dance in your hearts meadow, daisy chains set in my hair, If ever you're in need of me you'll find me waiting there.

Language Of Love
Her friends made an accord To bring her cariad They met They embraced with blissful laughter The day carried on They went to the portal's entrance Outside He was preoccupied By the device he held Outside She met another compatriots Who played their mischiefs With slippery liquids They caused chaos And an accident happened With a child Who fell The girl came to rescue And held the kid until The pain was gone And She looked at her cariad Waiting for something Something or someone She looked at her Parents And they urged her To enter the amphitheater With her platonic frater So she went And waited outside She faced the fragile glass Facing her own reflection Tucked her hair Behind her ear And called her cariad to go with her In a place she felt home And then Through the looking glass Waiting for him She saw The way he waved Frantically Implicating An urgent Goodbye So she went outside And saw Her cariad With a fair woman She knew She was the Eros While she, the frater Platonic, should be Platonic But what's with that look? A look of regret A look of pity A look of apology On her cariad's face As she approached and saw them Her heart heavy Falling in the pitch blackness Of Oblivion Where self deprecating Self loathing Self pitying Dwell So she closed the distance Greeted the fair woman Who bothered only with a side glance At her And so they went And she With them In a brief walk Before they went away Until They parted ways Again With her Cariad

Cariad Dream
Myfanwy supped her tea from her saucer, just like Auntie had before death claimed her, like some debt collector thinking she owed him. Tea warm and dark and sweet, just how she liked her men, Auntie used to say, and laughed until she nigh wet herself. Myfanwy stared at the photograph of Auntie in black and white and laughed. Funny old biddy; pipe smoker, gin drinker, man eater, unmarried or divorced, she'd not say, better, she'd said, that way. She gulped the last of the tea and put the saucer down on the table, and lit up a cigarette and sat smoking. Jones the Bones, her useless boyfriend (for want of a better term) had asked her out on a love date (he'd said dyddiad cariad). She had said: I'll think about it, see how I feel after Chapel and Dai Thomas's sermon. Jones had'n't been impressed. Wanted his end away, I expect, Myfanwy mused, watching the smoke cloud out Auntie's features in the frame. Not that she minded mind, but he seemed to expect it like a dog a walk after a meal. She scratched her thigh; that last time in his rather dilapidated room and that single bed, had not left her thoughts or her gin soaked head.

MYFANWY'S DATE 1959.
I saw you from across the room, perfect strangers, eye-contact, palpitations and trembling knees. You saw me shake and smiled, a reassuring one, not judging, not mocking my silly reaction. Your eyes glow with new universes. Your hair burns with a million candles. Your skin shines like full moons. Your heart beats to a lost symphony. Your soul radiates tranquillity. You became my sweetheart, my darling, my soulmate, meine liebchen. Your eyes close with the coming night and I lay you gently on the bed. I sing a lullaby as you begin to dream, nos da cariad, sleep tight.
