Only you and the sun can turn the sky on
There are few things in this world
That a man can rely on

When this world grows cold, the sun's very fire gone
On the day that you must go
That's the day I will die on

Only you and the sun can fight the moonlight
Beat back the sadness
The madness of midnight

Sanctify the gladness, steadfastness of daylight
Bookend the badness
Upend the dark night

Only you and the sun can sing destiny's song
The darkest of your hours
Are brightest before dawn

If fate were unfaithful, or otherwise forlorn
Life itself would still be grateful
For the day that you were born

Only you and the sun are deserving of twilight
A state of solemn grace
And harbinger of starlight

Now face to face with you by the firelight
I pray that I wake
Beside you at first light

Her eyes are kind her heart is warm
She is a Rose, I am a Thorn
We catch and ride the wild steed
I’m so alive and she’s so free

In the gazebo we dance until early dawn
Our bodies lay naked out on the lawn
Completely fulfilled and finally whole
I have no intention of letting her go

Wheels are turning my heart is yearning
A lust for life subconsciously burning
I breathe too deep and the dream is lost
I start the day with a secret thought

Perhaps she was fictional beyond conclusion
A kaleidoscope of colors, a beautiful delusion
If only to awake and find her near
Instead I sleep and gasp for air...

Heartbreak lends itself to poetry
The invisible pain we all can see
Twinkle shining grace
Butterflies whispy lace
Unicorns, faries, and stormy seas
Contemplative yous and mes
Star shine, moon, and
Lemondrop lace
Sail our ship all over the place
Laughter and giggles and filling with glee
Sadness, darkness,
Scraped up knee
Heart tug, lady bug
Someone pulling out the rug
Space junk, rock punk
And Billy the Kid
History, horses
Heartbreaking divorces
College courses, too
Don't forget about
The heartbreak of me and you
I think I've got it covered
The poem is done, of course
Anything I add now
I would just have to force
You wonder what happened to
All those valley girls
They weren't very bright
But they entertained the world
They brought a little comedy
To cut through all the gloom
But what a sad tragedy
When they all gagged to death on spoons

In relationships, just like in anything else,
The best way to gain is to give of yourself.
You can't give too much, unless the giving is equal.
It's good to consider, for the alternative's lethal.
Before emptying your contents into their ready palms,
Be sure to assess if they're as equally  fond.
Though for people such as I, the contents leak out,
It steadily seeps down through the cracks and without.
They will drink of your happiness and when they are full,
You are left feeling empty and heartless and dull.
The the cracks will never heal once the contents are gone,
So make sure your love is a mutual one.
