Crystal Casey Nov 2017
Beneath the sea of diamond blues
Her wings of obsidian and asphalt hues
Graced by threads of silver snow
As she looked on the world below

Above the sleeping city lights
Its wings in shades of ebon nights
The fiercest purple locked in gaze
As it danced in the angel's embrace

For once together, united at dark
A thousand miles now set them apart
Dusk and dawn are one and the same
In worlds reversed, to meet again

The first lines drawn to fit her frame
It hadn't even asked her name.
The midnight rose who's now asleep
A bond to forge by feelings deep

The second verse to steal her heart
Etched in its mind, part by part
She told him no, so soft and sweet
Seven years later and they still meet

The third would come and a chapter ends
For new beginnings and star-crossed friends
Nights in November staying up till dawn
Nights to remember, through moments gone

The curtains call for the final act
Days run out and her bags are packed
She has her darkness, she has her fears
Her Raven will wait across the years

"Keanu Reeves, eh?"
as the Canadians say
his hair is ravens
Up north
The ravens are well-fed
Proud and bossy
Tail feathers two feet long.
Up north
The cougars are muscled
Prowling through yards
House cats go missing
Up north
The game grow bigger
Towering, stoic
Against beasts larger still.
Up north
The people are farther
I finally feel
That I'm plausible prey.
