We all see the same luminaries
That brighten our world
We all see them different
And that in itself
Enlightens our world
The blood red sunset was amazing

What does your heart do at night?
It spins silk silently above the clouded sky.
And when it levitates back to thee
the moon is curdled in every beat of me.

When left alone at night
I look for the pinpoint lights
of the stars that appear
when clouds aren’t there.

There’s a waning gibbous moon
shyly peaking from the shadows,
with one of its symmetrical sides,
what’s the moon got to hide?

whispering privately
I’ve heard the moon has a darkside,
that it’s coin-like and openly two-faced.
That’s no idle gossip, it's scientifically based.

India just landed on the moons bottom
I wonder what, exactly, that got ‘em.
It’s funny because the moon is ****,
making the landing sound rather rude.

“India is groping the **** moon’s bottom.”
See what I mean? It all sounds rather pervish
and obscene - not at all the usual routine -
it has the ring of something politically incorrect,
but that’s progress, I guess, undressed or dressed.

I want to lay with you
Late at night
And exchange loving words,
The moon and the stars
Our only witness

I'm jealous of everything
maybe because of how your life just goes by without any traces of me on it, I couldn't even get a chance to say how I love your hair falls perfectly on your face.

maybe, I'm just a moon, without your light, I'm nothing. You're everything like the sun.

i became an island
wrapped myself in an earthen blanket
and crawled into the ocean

i slept, the most peaceful sight
fetal position as i embraced nothing

i became an island
lost at sea
disappearing in the high tide
my sandy shores raked with coral
under the moon

under the moon
when i rise
to watch the waves lick at my soles

under the moon
i became an island.

[Verse 1]
Vikram lands so softly
Modi on the moon
India cries out victory
Modi on the moon
Pragyan rover ready
Modi on the moon
ISRO team so steady
Modi on, Modi on the moon

[Verse 2]
Russia, U.S., China
Modi on the moon
Russia, U.S., China
Modi on the moon
First to land at South Pole
Modi on the moon
Finding water one goal
Modi on, Modi on the moon

[Chorus]
Modi say
It's not just India's day
But today
Belongs to all humanity
What a way
To demonstrate technology
A-Okay
"India is on the moon"

[Verse 3]
Chadrayaan-3 successful
Modi on the moon
Rocket science stressful
Modi on the moon
We must work together
Modi on the moon
We can live forever
Modi on, Modi on the moon

[Chorus]
Modi say
It's not just India's day
But today
Belongs to all humanity
What a way
To demonstrate technology
A-Okay
"India is on the moon"

[Outro]
Don't give up, don't give up
Don't give up, don't give up
Don't give up, don't give up
Don't give up, don't give up
Don't give up, don't give up
Don't give up, don't give up
Don't give up, don't give up
Don't give up, don't give up
Don't give up, don't give up
Don't give up, don't give up

[repeat and fade]

8/25/2023 - Poetry form: Lyric - India's landing on the moon is pretty cool. My "Modi on the Moon" lyrics were inspired by the music from "Walking on the Moon" a reggae song written by Gordon Sumner a/k/a Sting, and played by the British rock band the Police.

Vikram and Pragyan
mysteries of the south pole—
India's moon phase
Chandrayaan-3 dreams came true
Modi's quite over the moon

Sadness had taken my Hands
and refused to let them Go.
Loneliness held My speech
and My Words had stopped to Flow.
Her Love turned out to be like Water
and it helped Me Quench My Thirst.
She gave Me a Hope for living
and saved My Life from the Worst.
She turned out to be the Moon,
in a Universe full of Stars
and When She touched My Wounds,
they vanished along with My Scars.
My Heart became a bit Stronger,
When Her Love touched My Shore.
Like the Stars it began to Sparkle,
When She loved it all the More.
A Dedication to Divya Singh, India.
