I'm losing it
Standing at the precipice
One foot out in the open
The other stepping off of the ledge

I'm losing it
Falling now as fast as I can
Not exactly what I was hoping
But one that I have grown to expect

I'm losing it
What little I tend to have left
These days I'd say I'm barely coping
And with all of that being said

I'm losing it
Standing at the precipice
One foot out in the open
The other stepping off of the ledge
I'll be taking a break from all social media starting tomorrow...

If I let go...who am I?

If I let go of the pain that made me strong,
does that mean I have become weak?

If I let go of the betrayals from the past,
how will I guard myself in the future?

If I let go of the anger I hold inside,
what will fuel the fire within?

If I let go of the wrong done to me,
will I make the same mistakes?

If I let go of the person I have been,
who am I?

Burned by fire
Slain by sword
No calling higher
Than for the Lord

The prophets profit
Nothing here
But drawing those
Ever near

Thrown the stone
The lions lair
Being not their own
Tossing cares

The prophets profit
Beyond this time
For the other side
Eternal life

Shunned and shamed
Losing face
All for the sake
Of saving grace

The prophets profit
Saving souls
Filling dockets
For the Lord

We are the children
Of a rebellion of the frightened
We are a sound
that will not be silenced
We are the children
Of a thousand screams so strong
We are a fire
that has been growing for so long
We are the children
Who have to be grown tough
We are an echo
Stand your ground and say enough
We are the children
Who want to grow up

And make you proud
We want to make you proud
For we are your children
And that should be enough

When you're young the enormity of death is not always realized
It's only when you age it starts to hit you...
...the sense of mortality
...the sense of dependence
...the sense of helplessness
...the sense of loneliness and isolation
...a new sense of rediscovering God
...The sense of frailty
...Receding hairline
...Brittle bones
...Weak eyesight
...Troubling teeth
...Shaky hands
...A forgetful memory
..Some ailments here and there
...A soul bruised and battered
...A soul eroded through the years
...A heart that is no longer fearless
...And constantly craves for a painless and peaceful death

That's it, I'm throwing my hat
Into the ring
At the voters behest I'll be the next best
Well...you know the thing

I'll spin on the spot
If the questions they've got
Are way too deep
I'll hem and I'll haw
Hack and I'll cough
Then ask the crowd
What do you mean

So that I do not lose
I'll promise the moon
Then when asked about it
Act like I don't have a clue

And if I have to
I'll jump through some hoops
Crack smiles at the crowd
Never once telling the truth

I'll promise less taxes
To please all the masses
And for that serious look
I'll make sure to wear glasses

I'll kiss ugly babies
Shake a few hands
Tell them all maybe
Hint at some plans

In the scheme of things
I'll make sure they're all grand
As they throw me their votes
Because I am the....

Well...you know the thing

There is taking off
and there is jumping.
One for up and one
for down.
There is sitting in
a garage and there
is waiting, in its air,
to drown.
There is falling for love
and falling for gravity.
There is the clatter of
your fallen crown.
