Delicate raindrops
On dry golden fallen leaf
Shines like a diamond

Sleep

I have found peaceful sleep on concrete floors
Where my desires have been needs
And had restless nights on feather soft beds
Where dreams of wants have piled with greed
They ask how people become mad
And I tell them
Look, like this
By doing business with dreams

a hand
you gave me a leg
and tripped me
till I fell flat
on my face

When I needed
a shoulder
to cry on
you gave me yours –
cold
to rely on

When I needed
a mirror
to reflect my light
you smashed it in pieces
all over the floor
throwing the frame
in an empty drawer

When I needed
a friend
you were a stranger
and stranger still –
I stuck with you

putty in his hands
pulled and stretched
like rubber bands

No more shall I be
crumbs on the floor
swept up and thrown out
the door

No more shall I be
on the bottom
of his list
making me feel
like I don’t exist

No more shall I be
awake at night
tossing and turning
til morning light

No more shall I be
weeping all day
with my head in my hands
under a dark cloud of grey

No more shall I be
a victim
now that I've kick'd him
to the curb
there was a little songbird sitting in a tree .
as i was walking by he sang a song for me.

he sang a song of love to such a lovely tune
. it made me feel happy when he began to croon

when he finished singing his song of love so gay.
it made me feel so happy as he flew away.

With strong wings,
you can reach the sky.
Despite the wind,
you can fly.
Precious was the touch
Deep but fragile
Memories, light
filled with darkness
Love we once had
Forever lost.
Longing remains
For what once was.
