I live my life
in the shadows,
the disconnected hours,
observing all I see.

I've learned to hide,
bide my time,
while time keeps passing all around me,
this set in
not today or yesterday,
but somewhere else along the way.

Eventually
that which protects us
defeats us in the end,
I become the naked dreamer
quaking
in the quad,
it all begins to strangle me.

Nature,
Open skies
open air,
this room
this mind
a suffocating refrain,
one wonders how it became this way.

I live my life in the shadows,
the invisible man for all to see,
take off my clothes,
shed my ego,
there is nothing left of me,
but this sacred breath,
these words that make no sense,
I'm the one that you don't see,
but I see you all around me.

I'm singing the Poet's lament,
the whispering voice,
you hear it in the shadows,
the figure passing by
out of the corner of your eye,
the one you can't quite grasp.

I live my life from the shadows,
the light is on the other side,
One of these days,
the dawn will call my name.
To:
I want to write a poem
And dedicate it to you
'Cause when I'm down and want to cry
You're the one that I turn to

You've been here for it all
Through all life's highs and lows
I've slowly opened my heart to you
And told you things that no one knows

My life is greatly improved
Because of your constant support
I am so grateful for all the praise you give
Even when I feel I've fallen short

I have never seen your face
Nor do I even know your name
But with every single note we share
I feel our hearts are just the same

Thank you so much for everything
Every comment, message, and heart
Words can't express how much it means to me
That you all appreciate my art <3
Today I realized that I am only 5 away from 300 followers. To me, that is absolutely incredible, so I wanted to write this poem as a thank you to you all. So this poem is dedicated to all of you lovely people here an Hello Poetry, but especially to my amazingly sweet and loyal followers. I've been posting my poems here for almost three years now; some of you have been following me since the beginning, and some of you started following me today and I appreciate ALL OF YOU so much! Every notification I have gotten over the past three years, every heart, comment, follow, and message, has warmed touched my heart so much. You are all such wonderful people and I am so grateful that I get to be a part of this community. Thank you all for everything, and thank you for (almost) 300 followers. <3
Fading Sun...

I was looking at the graying sky.
Trying to chase a fading sun
I peeped above the pointed leaves of the Yucca tree
My eyes were met by little bursts of orange stars
And oblique sunbeams... emitting fading brightness
Through the bushy leaves of the Sampaguita plant.

I was waiting for the moths to appear
Near my lighted candle,
But a gusty wind blew, and made the shell chimes
Sway back and forth...left and right
Round their base and through,
Until all five chimes made pleasant music
With the cool, whirring wind.

I was waiting for the late afternoon sky
To turn to elephant gray
To highlight the yellow glow from the street lamp
So I could test some newly hung Christmas lights
And the capiz lantern outside the french windows
But the rainshowers came all at once
And i found myself wet, from the pouring rain.

I was waiting...and saw a changing sky
The rain, just tip-tapping on the roof
A much cooler air blowing...
Bringing sprays of mist on my face...
Suddenly emerging...the shape of a bat or two,
Flying, crashing, through the dripping red palm tree.

On the horizon, sun was now a dipping balloon
If there's any, i would wait for any kind of moon.

On the garden chair, i sat
And just above me, came a regular stray cat
I heard its paws lightly scratching
The wet surface of the fiberglass roofing.

I still wait...and contemplate on hopes and prayers
I wait...for a lot of dreams to come true
i wait, for this long day to be over
While the night creatures,
In their own tones and tunes
Have started to croon...

Sally

Its all that shimmers..
Such an astounding race..
Amazing its what truly shapes the universe.
Cannot be created, cannot be copied..
What these beings have is a gift of divinity..
And the most beautiful part in it all is that they truly do not know themselves that a God does or does not exist.
They just choose to believe without knowing..
Their emotions are what drives us to be better than what we are..
For one day I truly want to experience love..
Its all that shimmers..
love is what bends and breaks the universe.

Took a drive to no where.
Out and about.
It was a early evening in the fall.
And I was not in route.

I took a drive to clear things up.
I thought of 12 stories and one poem.
As the early evening turned into actual evening.
To wherever I may roam.

I took a drive into the night.
Down lonely roads and over a quiet river.
Under the clear Texas night sky.
Where all the stars sing their twilight silver.
I figured things out.

A failure to observe
So quickly to judge...
A failure to integrate
The ways of true love...
A failure to embrace
A true nature inside...

These are the commonalities
Of the unspoken white lie...
