I am drowning in your river of lies.
The tall tales you spun to trap me like a fly.
I followed you to my own demise,
and yet still, I can't open my eyes
to the reality so plain and true
that I am simply nothing to you.
Something to float on in this ocean of confusion,
but not to be taken to the safety of the shore.
You brought me to a safe place,
only to release me to the vastness
of the river you made for me,
to drowned me in,
*rather then set me free.
