One thousand leaves sail down red, green, yellow lost
The willow shakes and weeps heads bowed strokes stream sad
Light it rises It flies by A fresh golden sight
A change from my usual poems in terms of format! While looking for books on Japanese poetry, I found this website https://penandthepad.com/write-lantern-poem-4928414.html Introducing me to the Lantern poem! While haikus use the syllable structure of five-seven-five syllables in a total of three lines. The Lantern poem uses five lines with a syllable structure of one, two, three, four and one syllables per line. Of course, it's called the 'Lantern' poem because it's meant to be shaped as a hanging lantern! I can't believe I didn't know about this, it's absolutely wonderful! I'm so gonna write more of these on my page! It was really refreshing to do! ^.^ I feel so inspired!
