DIRT
 Aug 2016 PaperclipPoems
Ja
You only need light
To see in the dark
Perform a kind deed
To leave your mark
But you need, a lot of dirt
To dig a hole

You only need food
When you are hungry
Ask for advice
When in a quandary
But you needn’t, throw any dirt
To reach your goal

You only need water
When you are thirsty
Put away your ego
To have some modesty
But you must, wash away your dirt
For your sins, to annul

You don’t need to worry
About life after death
Don’t rush to the end
Stop, take a breath
Because, you mustn’t have, any dirt
To save your soul

susan
feeling your breath
upon my neck
i urge my eyes to close
as i picture the you
i've imagined
in my dreams

as your breathing grows more intense
i'm lost in a fantasy
of pretend love;
picturing daisies
and blue skies
gentle rains
and swaying trees

and later, as you lie close to me
softly snoring
i imagine that happiness
fills my weary heart.

Do you love me
       Or do you not?
You told me once,
        But I forgot.

I drank a river to follow you deep
feet changed to webs
and I swam an ocean of loneliness
just to feel what I felt most keen
love and its loveliness
a capture and captured willing slave

A photo of a group
friends in the summer
I didn't know
you had Photoshop
way back when
for surely these summer friends
aren't the foes I see today.
I like pens that bleed
Ink that smears
Girls with scars
Broken parts
***** clothes
Stained sheets
The hint of blood
The taste of lust
The smells of love
Nights through morning
Mornings to night
Suns that sleep
Moons that dream
And all the pretty
You hide underneath
Those pretty
Pretty
Pretty things
Many days I feel worthless
Even more I question my purpose
Too much to explain
Everyone feels pain
Everyone cries their eyes out
Has something to talk about
I don't need someone to understand
Just someone to offer a hand
To let me struggle and break down
Knowing that I will come back around
Because if there's one thing I'm sure of
It's that I know how to love
But continue to learn every day
That there is always a new way
We all struggle, though hardly ever in the same way.  We all love, though again, in many different ways.  I know how to love but am constantly humbled by the fact that I can learn new ways every day.
Facta non verba is what we need,
Verba non facta is all that's received,
If you want to be a part of what is achieved,
Put away your kind words and help spread some good deeds.
“I always knew a good man should do no bad deeds, but it never occurred to me that a good man must do good deeds. He cannot just sit back and do nothing. He cannot just relax and let things happen around him. He must act or his faith is meaningless, mere words or thoughts.”
