Sky
I love the night sky
but it makes me feel
so small.
To look up
and see the vast darkness,
so massive and beautiful.
To see the glimmering stars,
and wonder what it would be like
to be up in space.
Its overwhelming to think
that there are over 500 billion galaxies.
I'm only one person.
One small human,
on a tiny planet.
The whole world is moving,
and I'm just standing still.

I shattered today.

Shards of love
And splashes of blood
Scattered to the tips of
My fingers
And
Toes.

We were in Starbucks
And I drank coffee
And you didn't
And seven months of
Surprise kisses
And
24/7 text messages
Ended abruptly
Like a cliff.

The funny thing is,
I broke up with you.
It was still me
Who spent the last hour
Listening to our song
And bleeding emotion
Riding on tears
Into the sock monkey
That I named after you
Because I loved the middle name
Ryan.

You were over it,
And I was not.
You showed up
With the bite of coffee
Crawling up your nose
Expecting to
Break
Up
With
Me.

I'm not exactly happy that we think alike anymore.
Seven months and two days. We had a good run. I still love you, Wade Ryan. I still do.

You refuse to sing
"Sing for me, please?"
"No"

I thought you'd grown comfortable enough with me
To let me in
Let me help

Who could have hurt you so badly
To make you so quiet

Listen
I hear you
You sing strong and beautiful

The shower cannot hide the tears or your voice
Let me in
Let me hear you

I know you like to sing
I can hear that smile on your lips
Where is should always sit

Let me hold you when you cry
Let me hear you when you sing
Don't run away and hide

I wish you could see
Just for a day
Come please

Sing for me

Illuminating embers of the sun
Weave into the darkness of twilight,
Awakening a new realm.
Intertwined branches
Are mere shadows of our hands
That I raise above us to touch the fading clouds.
Wind’s curiosity is my lips upon your figure.
My goosebumps are thorns against your satin skin.
Your hot breath chases away
The crisp air from the earth of my
body.
Reality a blur; our surroundings as forgotten
as the kiss stains of my neck.
Head drops back, mouth drops open.
Intentions as clear as the stars above,
We hush the midnight silence.

We are born into the world,
and we think that it is good,
that no one would ever hurt us,
and wouldn't even if they could.

The world is full of smiles,
people long to see our face,
there's no heartbreak, tears or failure,
only hope and endless grace.

But then we see more clearly,
and some things begin to change.
Our fairytale world crumbles,
and our blue skies turn dark gray.

The smiles have all been replaced
with hatred, fights and pride.
Fingers are crossed in promises,
leaving faith and trust behind.

Hope melts away so quickly,
and our false foundation sinks.
We see things as they truly are,
or at least that's what we think.

But then we see more clearly,
past the pretend fairytale,
and the made-up horror film,
and we finally see what's real.

Nothing is all good or bad,
but if one little tiny flame,
can light a room of darkness,
then light wins, and hope remains.

I'm Living,

You told me to live, to go out and live.

Now I'm doing it

I found someone who is different, different from you...

I've fallen in Love...all over again...

You told me to go...

Go and live...

I'm living

Just without you...

I think surrealism was born of alcohol
The world looks unbelievable when intoxicated
Impossibly intricate, complex and simple
The shapes of the line that might define the borders of the world
Seems uncertain shifting and sublime,
Objectively subject to change

Depth becomes shallow and
Focus is moved from one thing to another
Beautiful women, lights on cars,
They flow and merge in the open night
And become one with the twinkling bright
Of the moon and the distant stars

Energy is movement and light
And it all goes one to the other.
The stranger is friend and now he’s my brother
Bartender!
Please bring me another

Did she?
 Jan 2014 PS

Did she caress my head
Did she smile
Was I drunk and wrong instead
Did I imagine what was said?

Did she touch my hand
Did she look with some desire
Was there longing in her eyes
I am uncertain with goodbyes

As she left I question
Was it kindness was it care
was it gentle friendship
That was there?

Was it *** was it lust
Was it baseless short desire
That plays me to the fire?

Was it movement without meaning
Was it apathetic leaning
Absentminded action that was lacking in all feeling?

I don't know
I don't know
But I wonder while I wander
Through my memories and ponder
Did she? Was she? Will she?
Be someone I should pursue?

I don't know,
Do you?

Passing

The months pass and the tears fall
Words left unsaid plague the mind
Memories upon memories
Upon memories, never left behind

Empty arms, still open
Stomachs that turn, hearts that ache
Hope lost, regained, and lost again
Promises made, left in limbo so as to never break

Silence. Filling a whole house.
Silence. Everything that comes out
Is silence from the mouth
Of a faceless man with silent doubt

All that is known is that the wait will be endless
He will never again feel her sweet caress
So as the months pass and turn into years
And Summer continues to Fall, so do the tears
