Plans
Nate ere May 2016
There isn't much reason to write-up a plan
If reasons all fail to explain
That a plan is not a power gate
You did not cause this flood
Of cause itself or any fate
You claim to rein above

Roses
Nate ere Dec 2015
I collect roses from up in her head
That is my sacred duty
Botanical gardens of thorn that I tread
To seek forgotten beauty

Stealing bouquets to lay under her bed
That she may find in the morning
She wonders why my hands are bloodied and red
I tell her, "My love, I've been working."

Strange Love
Nate ere Dec 2015
Hello strange moon
With a half-bent eye

Your circling gaze
A tentative sigh

Tired it seems
Of orbiting me

"Let us be one,
Or show me a leave"

Collide and escape
To adventurous fun

Ode to embark
Apart from the sun

Peace
Nate ere Nov 2015
My mind is a lightning storm
that's never calm or warm

Whose gale no temperance born
can weather free of harm

Whose rain like panic falls
upon a sinking heart

With weight enough to halt
a worried ships embark

My mind is a lightning storm
that's never calm or warm

Through the eye we man the helm
If peace must be this way:

A biding time between the swells
amid the static fray

cloaked in vague tapestries
woven of light
her eyes hold eternities
deep as the night

her golden harp hair
that sings in the breeze
her symphonic stare
brought the world to its knees

If our dreams were stars
she was the sky
who thought up a cloud
that started to cry

she was the shadow
cast over the day
and she was the wind
that blew her away

The Mountain

Fissure the Mountain looming
His constant reminder too:
"My power is never moving,
I am greater than you"

"Oh what a jaded thing to say
You're just the same as us
For greatness is as swift as day
and life a fleeting gust"

Fissure the Mountain looming
Endure the chasm inside
See that you are both a blink
Beneath a giants eye

He wonder why
She loved him so
And so did she
They couldn't know

He loved her for
The love he'd gained
And that is all
She felt the same

The reason then
For love, we know
A mutual duping
Of the soul

Oh where has my good friend gone?
I'm longing for my Autumn song
Since June I irked to hear the tune
Oh where has my good friend gone?

Perhaps he's lost in a shroud of smoke
Or hid behind my flask
Or altogether had a stroke
and rendered me a mask

Perhaps I let him get to close
Or took his time for granted
Perhaps he's wilted as a rose
Whose death the Sun commanded

Perhaps he's still alive and well
Perhaps I'll never know
Or walking lost like me in hell
below a laughing Crow

Man and The beast
Nate ere Mar 2015
Come brothers, come sisters
Were having a feast
I'll tell you the tale
Of the man and the beast

The world is a beast
With no head to speak
And God but a Man
With no legs to stand

With nowhere to go
The Man climbed atop
The beast so subdued
With no way to stop

The beast was ashamed
For she was below
she carried the man
For she couldn't say no

The beast trotted on
While the man was light
But the reins in his mouth
Began to feel tight

The Man amassed
As beast succumbed
He'd forgotten at last
Who he stole his legs from

The beast was lost
in a maze of Man
A dire cost
just to stand

whenever I'm with you
and sing the words no voice has sung
to let us feel anew

I'll say the things no man has said
if just to make you smile
and trace the stars above your head
in novel shape and style

I want to name the blades of grass
I lie upon with you
In one gulp drink the ocean's vast

Sounds boring and trite

If you stand there alone
like a rock in the night

How will you know
Just what can be

If you never let go
You can never be free

Let your life touch the light
If only you dare

Let's explode through the sky
In one solar flare

Something from Nothing
Nate ere Nov 2014
Sitting long at the lonely pulpit
Great men raised in the arcane age
Will gaze at the fraught white nothing
Of an empty page

His torn and labored hands
In time begin to work and play
If service be the only way
then ever to listen, ever to pray

His temperate mind begins to ache
as thoughtless lines acquire shape
a crowning genius may invoke
the secret of divine pen strokes

I let the currents - low they sweep
take me away unto the deep

all I know is
you have to make it yours
here take it! It's a thought you adored
but don't call it mine
and don't call it yours

Make it yours! Make it yours!
take it in, tear it up
but don't keep it safe
or its bound to disrupt

I really won't mind
I want you to have it
I don't fit you just right
but don't be so tragic

Let it live in your mind
let it steep in your sores
and don't be surprised
when my thought becomes yours

take it in, take it all
the world is free
to share itself
objectively
let it live in your mind
let it steep in your sores
and don't be surprised
when the world becomes yours

Each night I die a peaceful death
Each day I'm born anew

My former life a paling dream
Of which I cast adieu

Yet still I know of yesterday
As present selves require

I clean the cluttered day of din
my life, oh soul, inspire!

All I ever feel is change
And all I think is One

When feelings bind me to the Earth
Thought breaks towards the Sun

On senseless paths that I contrive
Each day I pay the toll

Each day of thirst I dare imbibe
The reservoir of soul

The Game
Nate ere Oct 2014
when I was young
likewise succinct

I played the strangest game but
not once did I await to think

as far as I could see
that beautiful game
meant nothing to me

I took in hand a hundred rocks
of every shape and stature
and each were judged upon my toss
as my other hand did capture

the first toss fit not half the group
into my eager hand
the second trial marked a loop
and rule unto the land

In time (at last) I held the stone
and as far as I could see
a beautiful victor left alone
meant almost nothing to me

I deem the greatest those who stayed
by virtue of the game I played

If they're nailed to the Earth

Let them ascend

Power-lines pulse over-head
easy streams by our quiet lives
the unarguable benefactors which
caress each man they touch

soldiers waging war on insurgents
with power-lines along the boarder
In this narcotic drip submergence
we lose our peace in the name of order

the egotists shout with their power-line minds
thoughtless words of each and every kind
At the promise of peace, wise men can see
the greatest peace springs from a tap into thee

My Brush is Law
My colors creep
My canvas - an eternity
My higher mind combine all three
Each one is nothing without thee

My faithful Brush - where did you go?
Your bristles lost amid life's pallet
Stirring songs deep into the rainbow
We forget the first and last of ballads

Oh color - grand fixture of my slanted my eye
Is it that I'm deceived and really truly Blind?
If shown the fact in reason - A good man must decide
To believe in colors is not a curse - but the blessing of disguise

My canvas of creation - invisible inside
Through every smear you never stained and never once cried
You hold the world upon your skin
Even when it has peeled and dried
Through life and death - through love and sin
My canvas stands - A silent friend

Reach for the first strong branch that you see
