RAIN
Nancy E Tracy Jan 2015
Rain, Rain on my day
Death
Disaster
Breath of Life you're  after
**** my Joy away

Nay I say

Breathe on me Breath of Life
Sing Songs of Greatfullness
Hide all the Hatefullness
Strength over Strife
Tired of all the media misery
Nancy E Tracy Jan 2015
Talent, good looks and all the rest
Tall, adorable, he was the best

Kind and decent, owns his own business
Man of mystery, wild and ****

The things you want
in the man you marry

They don't always necessarily

come

in
one

package

Choose wisely girls.....

Just Like You
Nancy E Tracy Jan 2015
He was tall and quite attractive, just like you
He was so well educated and his eyes were baby blue

He was everything I wanted
He was everything I needed
Fell in love with me completely
Said he couldn't live without me

Just like you
Just like you
Just like you

Now we're making plans together
Of the future home we'll share
I'll pretend I really love him
I'll pretend I really care

Just like you
Just like you
Just like you

When we fall asleep at night  I'll lie there dreaming dreams of you
While he never knows my secret, while he never knows the truth

Just like me
Just like me
Just like me
I think I've been listening to too much country music

New Years Eve
Nancy E Tracy Dec 2014
Each year on New Years Eve
Since 1991
Each year on New Years Eve
I sit here all alone

My friends have all departed
they're dead or else they're gone

I'm much too old to party
go out in snow and ice
but dressing up with sparkling hair and high heels would be nice

The dancing and the laughter
are what I miss the most
the horns champagne confetti
To drink a New Years toast

But on the shelf above me
an album filled with love
sits quietly and waits for me

No, I am not alone
My next-door neighbor (Cora)was going to come over and we were going to drink beer and giggle and watch the ball drop, but, alas, she has to go pet-sit for her daughter whose husband has had a death in the family.  Oh well, Cheers everybody and Happy New Year 2015

'Tis the Season
Nancy E Tracy Dec 2014
When the page was closed
I wept a while

So much beauty seen today
So much gladness in this happy season

So much saddness
None without a reason

My first thought (in Poetry)
Broke me out of my reverie

Leaving me in pain
for those who are so sad

Knowing that in vain
you'd given all you had

"When one door is closed,
a window opens up" for you

Oh, I can help!
I know where the window is!

Yes, come through the window!
Yes, it takes some effort to get through there...

You can do it!
I know you can

Look, look all around you
Here, here in Poetry's Home

HP poets eagerly
waiting to enfold you

Love is the window
Come, come on in!
The Christmas season causes some people pain and it is reflected in their poetry.  This sadness is what prompted this poem.

eetsy eetsy, tiny feetsy
in the attic dark and creepy
who could be there? Looking at me
Is it Procyon Lotor?

He comes watching every winter
will he really dare to enter?
Enter at my chamber door
Seeking mischief as before?

Comes the creature wild of feature
Fuzzy furry in a hurry
looking for me wanting near me
Only this and nothing more

                         **

Will they hate me and berate me
loving Rhyme the way I do?

Poetaster they will call me
Death, disaster pray befall me

I will be the way I will be
always 'till the end of time so
You can hate me all you want to
You have your way, I'll have mine

Dear Blank Challenge
Nancy E Tracy Nov 2014
Dear Quin:

There's Love that makes the world
Go 'Round
There's Love that lasts Forever

And you are such a clever guy
You fly so high
You touch the sky
you make us smile and makes us cry
with poetry and wisdom

But Love For You is so Profound
sometimes it knocks us to the ground
or causes us to spread our wings
and try for higher, greater things

You're poetry is in our Hearts
When will we leave you? NEVER

Honeymoon
Nancy E Tracy Nov 2014
It's over
and darling, it will never be the same

It's really over
I can't deny that it was only just a game

Feeling your arms around me
is just a long forgotten dream

'cause things are never what they seem

you gave me all that you could give
I've lost my reason now to live

because it's over
It's over

Life (Worth fighting for)
Nancy E Tracy Nov 2014
So full of life and vital things
upon the brink, I spread my wings
and close my eyes and look ahead
at all the things I've never said

at all the things I should have done
of prizes that I've striven for
and hopelessly have never won
of friends I've made
who've come and gone

Of mountains that I should have climbed
instead, on cushions I reclined
and thoughtlessly I drank the wine

of Apathy

So now that clouds have drifted by
and all alone, I lift my eye
and see the way to heaven's door
and know that life's worth fighting for

Next time I see a mountain high
I'll bound right up and touch the sky
I'll seek the prize and win this time
I'm not afraid, I'll take what's mine

won't rest on laurels in the sun
I'll fly to where the work is done
and if it's worth the price I'll give,
of all I have, so we can live
in peace, I'll comfort anyone
who needs my help
to get things done

I'll thank the Lord for what he gave
his sinless life our souls to save

I'll hold my friends much dearer still
I'll share the wine, we'll drink our fill

MY TURN
Nancy E Tracy Oct 2014
MY TURN........
                (to rant)

There was a time when Halloween
was lots of fun, no one was mean.
We didn't have to check our treats
and children safely crossed the streets.

And then the "seventies" arrived
with liberal concepts all contrived
to change our "Dull" society
bluring lines of propriety
bending rules of decency,
corruption, greed and call it "Free".

No freedom lies within these mores.
Suffering now, we've locked our doors.
We scan for weapons all  aboard
or come to school a frightened hoard.

Is this the "New Society" that once they blithely stated
would bring to us a world that's free of hatred, educated,

would bring us new insightfulness?
Devoid of all the frightfulness?

A better place for us to live?
A healthy place to raise our kids?

When mistress Miley gets on stage,
or "Beeber" gets arrested
are we really proud of them?
Well I'm not, I'm ashamed

It could happen........
Nancy E Tracy Oct 2014
We were fish in the sea
sheep on the hill
when that dark, dreadful day came to pass.

There were some in their beds,
some out of their heads,
while the government sat on it's ***.

It came out of the  East
swift like an eagle
and covered the earth in a flash,

All things froze with a "Beep"
when the Net started falling
and out in the street you could hear people calling

"What just happened?" they wondered
while everyone pondered
Bill Gates wrung his hands in Dispair,

"Just what have I done,
now everything's gone
with the whole world as one
I was just having fun
now, my money's all gone
it's certainly not any fair!"

Halloween Fun
Nancy E Tracy Oct 2014
Here they come now!

Giggling up the sidewalk

On their way to my front door.

Masses of costumed grimlins,
Tumbling
Pushing
Squirming
Screaming bundles of fun!

On their way to my front door.

Sticky faces,
Painted faces,
Horrid hairy masks that hide happy faces,
Upturned faces,

Grinning ear-to-ear in anticipation of some goody
Tossed into each sack,

On their way to my front door!
Written in 1986 but since Halloween is coming I couldn't resist putting it on here.  Hope you like it

This morning I heard myself say,
"Don't go 'cause you won't get away"

"You'll never get anything done,
You'll be sitting there reading 'til dawn.
You're dishes will sit in the sink,
Your body will stink,
'cause it's all gone to hell,
Sitting 'round in you're petticoat pink" ? lol

But I logged on anyway......

Have you seen the moon?
Hidden by a cloud
it's missing

Missing what was ours
Truly it was never meant to be
Gone forever out among the stars
Whisked away, a vapour, just a dream

Have you seen my heart?
Melted by my tears
it's missing

Missing plans we made
When you took your love away from me
Overwhelmed by sorrow and dismay
Surely I will wane and fade away

Just like the moon
Is that already the title of a song? Oops!

Get a Life
Nancy E Tracy Oct 2014
"You're old" they said, "Not worth your salt"
That's what the young folks say.
"Get a life" they said, "Go back to bed"
"you're only in the way"

I'll get a life as soon as I have finished raising kids
Have finished doing dishes, have finished making beds

Have finished playing "Taxi" to you and all your friends
Have finished paying bills, have fininshed meeting ends

I'll "Get a life" when I am done
with work I have to do
To help down at the shelter
and  at the churches too

With PTA and parties
vacations and the like
I don't have time..........there is no time

For me to get a life.
I wrote this when I was active in our Poetry Society and it won a  prize

Polly is my favorite horse
She's tall and lean and dapple

and always wants an apple.

She carries me to Avalon
upon her back I'm Kubla Kahn

I'm Lancelot

She's Lippizan

Tupelo Bullet
Nancy E Tracy Sep 2014
I still can hear the train
it left here hours ago

It rattled past me down the track
on it's way to Tupelo

I hear the singing rails,
the lonesome whistle song
The earthquake feel of strength and steel
and the quiet when it's gone.
I love trains, and my Grandparents lived by a Railroad track .  That is what inspired this poem

My Yard
Nancy E Tracy Sep 2014
In my yard a hummingbird is sipping on a flower
While breezes through the old Mimosa sway

In my ear a dove is cooing in the morning hour
a Meadow Lark is welcoming the day

In my eye a butterfly writes "Peace" across the lawn
In my nose a fragrant rose perfumes the early dawn

In my heart a song of joy
put there by God alone

For in my yard
the love He gives makes this old house a home

Our beautiful, rosy,Texas dawn
wakes up as only Texas can

One thousand birds in joyous song
proclaim the day is here

The fragrance of the trees and grass and life is all around us
The vastness and the open air never ceases to astound us

Wake up!  Wake up and seize the day
The grand and glorious Texas way

Sits She waiting in a nest
of finest silk strung here to there
and in the garden
over by the waterlilies
sits the mate whose name she bare

Wed they in June
in Copper Corners by the bay
and children 3 had She and He
with names like Do and Re and Mi

Loved He her
and She loved He
idyllic life had they
came then Charlotte (sans her web)
and stole She's He away

From what I know
they're all there still
at least they were today
