The Pictures In Our Hands

Have you ever sat
and thought of a long
lost
love?

Day dreaming of
what
they're currently
doing? What they're seeing?

Maybe, they're kissing
their new love

Or

Maybe, they're just
washing dishes from
last nights roast

Or

Maybe, they're
just sitting there
Holding a photo
of you

Letting out a little smirk
with a mild chuckle
at the awkward looking
teenage couple

Remembering what it was like
to brush your hair with
their fingers

The softness of your cheeks
before your
scratchy beard invaded

How it didn't matter
that it was 3am
You were going to count
the stars

When we didn't argue
over this stupid election
The only direction we moved
was the furthest from
reality

But,
eventually we were caught
and time pulled us
to our current state

Azure blue skies
Surrenders to
Purple
And hues of
Orange-red

Shadows meld
Into the oncoming
Dark cloak
From a sinking
Star
Revealing secrets
Of cosmos past

Reaching as far as I can
Stretching each fiber to
Their limit

Plucking out of the black
A single point of light
Cupping it's energy
With my palms

Gives me strength
Nurtures the

We test the waters
first with our toes,
to take the first unknown step
in the naked ocean
we reside

Stage smiles in photographs
as we know
only ink can truly capture
the raw, inner self

We celebrate picturesque
landscapes donning walls
of their master's sanctum,
as nature is force to
retreat behind a concrete
dystopia

We kiss the lips of death
and press our hands
upon the dark cloth
feel the woven
thread,
to nurture our souls
when are bodies
are not fed

Mysterious Figure
Michael Blonski Dec 2016
My mind was hazy
after over drinking
when I first saw the figure

crunching its way towards
me on a winter's night
holding a flashlight
and walking its poor excuse for a dog

The iced trees drooped
swaying from cold breath
as the figure trudged on

The closer it approached,
I began to hear its song

Nothing drowned out its
performance in the stillness
of a New York winter

Nothing to compete with this
derivative, pop radio, Siren
Calling out to me as flakes
melt on my exposed face

I could taste the diesel
from the exhaust
expelled from the truck
that left tracks in the snow

Lost my attention for a second
then the figure's song
regained control

The flashlight grew brighter
and brighter
When the figure was just a few
feet away
the brightness over powered
my vision
and the figure asked
"do you know your way?"

"Sorry?" I replied as my
mind was not clear

"do you know where you are going?"

I replied,
"Does anyone know where to go
when their purpose isn't clear?"

Solitude On The Dark Ocean
Michael Blonski Jul 2016
Trapped in solitude
the noiseless screams of torture
dream devouring creature
of the black sea

I constructed a raft,
from timbers of fallen
ambitions, crossed the ocean,
cursing the climates that
engulf my body as I drift
away

Alone on the
pulsing membrane of earth's
diaphragm, I gaze upon
the mystical twilight

Pull out a piece of tattered paper,
crumpled and wet,
saved from my great escape
and write not
to dream, but write to live

discover the truths that
are hidden within my own head
until I reach land, full
of sharp teeth, and shrieking
masses

I'll befriend the rats
and the worms in the ground
the life we deemed below ours
for they treat me as an equal
one with the honest
one with myself

The Sun Thief Must Burn
Michael Blonski Apr 2016
Whatever happened to the boy
who dreamed?
The master architect of worlds
rarely visited.
Fragmented artifacts are discovered,
sieved out of the sand.
The body as whole remains incomplete

A lonely man singing along
with his guitar of woe
Sing to me your story,
tell me what brought you here
Failure to dream or overwhelmed
by choice?

I've heard of the living
I know of the afterlife
The walls between you and me
are physical
Follow the paths forged by the few
Liberate your passions
I see you in me.

So I grabbed her hand,

As she's always hundreds

that builds up
after years over exposure

I write to place myself
on the operating room table
dissect each fiber and
better understand what I'm
made up of

I write to tell the world
that I'm alive
that I'm not afraid to die
that I'm willing to try
to
make the most of this time
I spend traveling around this
spherical spaceship

filled with ice and fire
love and hate
tallest trees
and smallest microbes

I write to proudly say
I reject your hate
the suffering proposed
and the so called world
you know

I write to hear the sounds of
crashing waves
see the darkness in the deepest caves
feel the clouds that roll by

I write because I'm alive

And reveal the inner attraction
To lite fires that burn away
The poets distraction
Watch them burn
Until they're only embers

The smoke will dance gracefully
Past opaque barriers
In scribe's energy
The smoke will be carriers
Of this voice's synergy

These lines start traveling
Through cylindrical pathways
Never to slow down
To remember where it's going
Unlike the inhabitants of this town

Same time same place
Where every breath is a bomb
And the bombs are left buried
Entombed
To suddenly explode when
An unfortunate soul

I grabbed a sharp knife

From the incision
billions of dreams
after years of collecting
in the void
began to rain down

Flooding the streets
after hitting the ground
settling into cracks
and gaps in the pavement

The people panicked
and broke away
from their living room
screens
rubbing their eyes
it was hard to
believe

That's when the ground
quaked below their feet
buildings shook
artificial light went dark
the earth cracked
apart

Black clouds
ruptured from the
cracks and gaps
giving way to
neon rays
the people left speechless
as they witnessed
the dazzling display

Everyone starred silently
at the hypnotic beams
that's when it struck
them
They all shared the same

where he's been

he said what are you hoping
to find in the

It's inevitable
he said and you will see
that you may walk through

and crunch the snow on the
mountains' caps

but you'll never live

you will change
and shed your skin
