Flowers

On the third of June, at a minute past two,
where once was a person, a flower now grew.

Five daisies arranged on a large outdoor stage
in front of a ten-acre pasture of sage.

In a changing room, a lily poses.
At the DMV, rows of roses.

The world was much crueler an hour ago.
I'm glad someone decided to give flowers a go.

Free our minds
isolate our thoughts
our tongue is powerful
with no remorse

A strong muscle
yet it's just so small
it can spread a thousand words
over a thousand walls

Without control it kills
in need of no pills,
causing breakdowns
and many thrills.
tongue is powerful

If our love went missing,
out of sight
would you keep fighting
for what is right

It could have lasted,
it could have carried on,
our weak bonds
couldn't stay strong

I chased my dreams
you chased yours
we left our love
on the Cape shores

still I fight
for what's not In site
pretending I love
when it's not right
fight for what is right

Take me home
To the place that I know.
Where the grass is greener
And the air smells sweeter.
Take me to Neptunes fountain and the parks and the hills,
Where I can walk down a street without being offered pills.

Take me home
Where I'm never alone.
To the place I adore
And will cherish forever more.
Take me to the racecourse, the promenade and town hall,
Where I bask in bliss under the starlit sky, and deeper still I fall.

Story life

Riptide
Staring into darkness
Set on sparing nothing
Poised in calmness
Frantically navigating for something
Preferably powerful
An idea of significance
Something to stupefy doubtfulness

Then it hits you
Significance something you brew
Just by your variable in the equation of the cosmos
Each life is a story to be told
To be leached by the unfortunate that don't possess an ink pumping heart
A story to change a life
A perspective
The world

You are a story
You are significant
So Let them leach;
And allow me to sleep
To be devoured by this darkness in peace.

Riptide
Sometimes it's easier to keep them in
More difficult to control.
They run around freely
With no restrictions or boundaries
Daring sanity and consciousness.

It's more calming to bound them to the laws of physics.
To make them bow before science
Just like the mechanics of mountains
In a form they will stay true.

If only I could discharge you, out into the world.
But you are stubborn
Clingy
Like children clinging to their parents

It's okay I say
There is a safe haven I know you can stay
Where you will be a statue
Where stardom will find you
And maybe
Just maybe you would become a monument.
A place where you can be treasured forever.

Riptide
I didn't see it coming
Like a storm
You came
And numbed my will
To choose the one I chose
But to choose the one you chose
This reserved heart you struck Cupid

Against my will
I fell inlove.

Flittering, fluttering, dancing in their flight
Glittering like emeralds throughout the night

The dance begins before sunset and goes on by the light of the moon
It is a ritual we hope won't end soon

In May every lightning bug gets excited
To this dance every firefly is invited

The dance begins when they hover in the air
Then one by one turn on their light for flair

They spin, dip, and dive
While others are continuing to arrive

The lightning bugs continue on through the night
Showing off their little lanterns of light

Finally, they come to a close
After this long dance, a firefly has to doze

Like candles being blown out, the green flashes of light are no more
But not to worry, they will continue for weeks until the final encore
This is actually a poem I wrote a few years ago on a camping trip.  Fireflies were starting to appear, and the Owl City song, *Fireflies* was stuck in my head.  Hello inspiration!
