it is 3:49 am
and i am awake
because i slept all day
because i was awake all night
because you were there,
your lips on mine
and even though you're not here now, you're still keeping me up..............................

I learned at an early age
There's things in life that happen you can't explain

I still remember waking up that morning in June
There was pain in my parent's eyes when they broke me the news

They said there had been an accident
And Amanda was badly hurt

I remember the feeling in the air
Because we all didn't know what to do

So we prayed,
I kept thinking in my head she'd be okay

And in the hospital
It hurt us all so bad to see her that way
I have to live with that memory each day

Machines the only thing making her breath
Her hair still curled from the sweet sixteen
Where she spent her last hours dancing and being free

I try so hard to forget her laying there bruised and swollen
Such a beautiful life prematurely stolen

Flowers bud to bloom.
Rain swells the Earth with love,
Water.
Animals awake to greet the new day.
Sunshine showers the Earth with wellness,
Power.
A poet in love
Is a match soaked
In gasoline.

I

Away

The

That
Is
My

They make us crazy
We have them in our sleep
We think about them in the day
They make us different
Dreams
What is your's?

The Devil rests
Within the chests
Of men whose muse is Wine.
He wears my face
So well some days
His name just might be mine.

He drops the rest of his one
Daily smoke
On the cold January ground.
Puts his glove back on
And gazes at the crane,
With distant eyes under the brim
Of his orange hard hat.

Then, through one of those smiles
That make any bad day better,
He turns to me and speaks.

It could be beer...
