people write poems comparing
smiles to sunsets and rain
and stars and meteor showers

eclipsing entirely that sunsets give way to the charcoal wraith of night
rain riddles the most novel of metals
supernovas sink entire galaxies
and meteors are just meteorites with less ambition

but what about earthquakes
and black holes
and wildfires

rib rattling
song swallowing
too close for comfort

what once warmed us to our core now leaves us in embers

and still we burn for more

Larger than life
The paths we make
The voices we follow
The positions we take

Politics and religion
Impact our minds
Poetic prisons
Hearts on the line

Coming and going
Haunting like ghosts
So many issues
We dare to approach

Each of us
A means to an end
Blinding lights
Burning dim

On into tomorrow
These torches we pass
Surely these fires
Were not meant to last...
Traveler Tim
Re to 10-17
The night was cold and snow fell
In the middle of this forest.
We couldn't even get a fire to work.

The fires burned, but became snuffed
Because you refused to throw firewood
Into the bonfire of our hearts.

I'm tired of cutting down trees
Just to stoke the flames on your side
Of the fire that exists to keep both of us warm.

All I wanted was to have felt the fire's warmth too.
To give your share was all I was asking from you
And you couldn't even give me that.

Moon tears
It's not the poison that it's poisoning you
Is the reason why you take the poison
I pic my poison and it's you
Nothing can **** me like you do
