Let our words rain

To fall soft as confetti

From clear blue sky

To survive the weathering of time.

Let our words plant seeds

Within minds of those fertile

To crystallize into deeds.

Let us show how Poe was wrong

To ask

If all we have been or seem

Is but a dream within a dream.

Let us show how

With words...

We can reign supreme.
winter bare her soul.

Some branches of broken horn
Called to me, as most others
Were rungs, the trunk, a great pole
For one to vault, into the heavens
Where was perched a wild nest
Of a red-tailed hawk, at the top
I could see the great bird, once
Was there, upon his cloud throne
And all the woods and ripples
With the lake, in dear murmurings
Played for me to soundly hear
The waves lap onto the shores
Under my flight and the lighted
Breeze that sifted through needles
And the sap that patched me there
Out on the limbs of my swaying
Daze.
O to sail in the scented sun
Of the great old pine of tinted
Sage and black tall bark, to be
Nestled in the forests on high
Within its mystery and wisdom,
All the way up I rose, the journey
Earthward was so much harder.

quiet darkness
so it covers them
the hills awash with soft onyx breath
wandering paths of frosted stardust
glittering like shards of tears; pearlescent
December , close your eyes
light of the perpetual dreamer
snowflake, gentle traveler
of the heavens you traipse down
barely a ripple on the laced, moonlit hills

Season's greetings
To you I send,

I pray for love and peace
For every precious friend.

May this season of hope
Bring happiness in an abundance,

May you feel joy in every moment -
May they be most wondrous.

May we pause for a few seconds
And give thanks for each new blessed day,

May we pray for the needy -
Ask that some assistance may come their way.

May the sick, and the lonely,
Find peace of mind,

May the underprivileged,
And the homeless,
Sleep easier each night - may life become kind.

May we be grateful for more
Than the gifts beneath the Christmas tree,

May we pray for a New Year
That brings peace throughout the Earth,
For all of humanity.

Season's greetings
To you I send,

I pray with all of my heart
That peace on Earth
Is right around the bend.

Once a beauty, a sight for all to behold
Now a sad Charlie Brown replica with a story to be told

Whispered promises of gifts of time and care
Oh how the promises now float freely in the air

If only this tree could have felt the warmth of the sun
Who knows then what it would have become

Tangled limbs of times in the past
Leaves falling and falling off so fast

The words of love left and pinned on by you and me
Have now started to also fall from this tree

Oh no there goes the love word Adore
Now look there goes the one that says No I love you more

All gone now except for one left right below a small pine knot
I found the love words Please Forget Me Not

Yes neglected and left unattended for so long
But yet the root system is still quite strong

Maybe this tree can be restored, to what it was so long before...

All the love words could be returned along with all the leaves
All you have to do is follow through with all love promises

There is a voice of comfort,
a poet of the truth
chords interwoven in every crack,
to lighten and to sooth.
Silken syllables singing
like distant thunders' clouds
to the lonely, humble ones
whose candles soon burn out.

A blessing from a being,
bestowed between the bad
who sat upon his whispered throne;
beaten, black and ironclad.
The boon from a saint of satin tongue
to those humanity fit;
humble thinkers, meek and strong
of kindest hearts and fathers' wit.

There is a voice of comfort,
for all who soon pass on.
When the darkness closes in
to where you thought you belonged.
It will pass you on with dignity,

"Hineini, Hineini. Here I am,"
sings the ghost of Leonard Cohen
I was quite shattered the day I read Leonard Cohen had passed on, Only recently I'd aquired his latest album, released only weeks before his death. On this album, -as in most of his work, he was the comforting voice who was no less than the perfect friend on the late, dark nights when thoughts wander, grandfather clocks tick and cats purr. I owe him

The poet's manuscripts
are preserved for posterity
with odd bits of his personal things
historical than literary
immortalized with passage of time
as his timeless work
perfumed in air conditioned staleness
letters sent and received
the mortal mind sending poems
desiring to be published
and outside on a falling winter day
in a dog's head
the crumbling desire
for a crumb of bread.
