I see you in the stars
Somehow you have been changed
From how the mortal eyes have seen you
Your mouth which used to speak
Of hatred and hope oblique
Becomes a beak without your teeth

Rage was born
But it will die
When its thrown into the fire

A brittle constellation
An ancient observation
You invite your guest to **** them
The poison of your being
These wounds caused by your sword
Let Heracles avenge them

All night
I look at you
Such beauty born from hatred

The knives in your hands
Cannot be be held by wings
Your arms that change until you drop them
The blasphemous skin
And fingers meant for ripping
These are the feathers that replace them

The sound of blood
And ugliness
Becomes beautiful music
Cygnus the swan. Greek mytholgy. You as a reader, I doubt you'll understand.

Icarus will learn
To not fly too close to the sun
Only when the beads of sweat
Are mixing with the melted wax
Dripping down his youthful back
Icarus will learn
To not fly higher than he should
Only when his fragile wings
His hopes and dreams have failed him
And he is falling from the sky
Icarus will learn
Of this I'm sure
But he'll only learn
When it's way to late
And the mistakes he made
Can't be fixed
Icarus will learn
But it won't matter

Venus did her thing again. There
in South sky of dawn.
Winked her shimmering darters where
fully aware, I was her pawn.
Witnessed this all did shivering fawn.

And my little deer glided. Soon
to leap then away.
Chased by diminishing stars and moon.
O so soon this break of day.
Venus left then knowing, her love astray.
I took inspiration for this poem from Robert Browning's "My Star," which is the first poem ever read to me by my mother. That tawny paged collection of poems sits on my nightstand to this day. Of course, I had a certain love goddess in mind as well, my dearest Phatima.

Oh, Icarus
Primary example of the human folly.
The wings and feathers destroyed by the heat of a sun you thought you could bear.

Oh, Icarus
You are a foolish one.
Excessive ambition never makes it to see the light of day.
You had too much hope in yourself.
Your pride took you away.

Oh, Icarus
The words of Daedalus fell upon death ears.
Failure to heed to a warning was your demise.

Oh, Icarus
Wings so mighty and beautiful.
What I would do to fly so high.
To soar above the clouds and meet the beautiful rays.

Oh, Icarus
Fly back to the sun.
Melt your wax and ruin your feathers, once more.

Oh, Icarus
We need someone brave enough to fly close to the sun.
Plummet into the ocean again after , if you must.
Every human here is lily-livered.

We can make each other happy
We can make each other hurt
Its not like the moon decides to be full
But aren't we something more?
Seeds that grow in the soil
Sprouting from the dirt
The roots taking hold
Becoming mythical flowers

Because we can make each other hurt
But wasn't the hyacinth born
From the blood of loss
From apollos fallen friend
And as the blood hit the earth
And the god of music wept
Blooms sprang forth
An eternal memorial

Still we can make each other happy
We can reach for the sky
To the helping hands from above
We can show each other love
And feel the peace
The cosmic consolation
The sky for which we reach
Can be filled with stars
How I feel about the one I love. And the times we are going through

I roll a boulder
(Gigantic and imposing)
To the top of the hill
(Steep and unforgiving)
Just to have roll down the other side
(The story of my life)
And so once again

I roll a boulder
To the top of the hill
Just to have it roll down the other side

And so once again

Caveman didn't invent fire
The gods did

It was a gift from Prometheus
And he is still chained to a rock
On an ocean cliff
With vultures gouging at his eyes

Just so we could have it
So we could know of warmth and light

Just goes to show you
No good deed goes unpunished
