i love me like this,
with the night in my eyes
and the cinnamon moon
that sits atop my nose.
i love me like this,
with my wild and untamable curls,
who only listen to the wind.
i love me like this,
with my skin that matches
the café con leche i love to drink.
i love me like this,
with my poetry and without her;
with the words i feel
and the words i’ve kept to myself.
i love me like this,
light and free;
because this is who i am,
this is who i was made to be.

My dream said
I was avoiding
That old ghost

And I said
Good

After twenty five years
Of hitting
And missing
I don't need
To go anywhere
Near there
Anymore

I have a hard time
Being literal

Explanations travel
In fits and spurts
With sometimes
No suitable
answer at all

And maybe
The truth is slanted
And you will
Divine it
On some cloudy day.

We will get there,

Is maturity a thing,
as we wither old?

Do we really learn our lesson,
and finally do as we are told?

I do not.
I refuse.
I will be smart and taught,
yet gleefully confused.

Never content,
never sold.
Always enthused,
and always boozed.

Life can't be seen as seriously real,
as we are all just playing a living game.

We can pierce our own Achilles heel,
or stand tall to pronounce all you overcame.

The stars said " I love you" and moon said "Me too"
And Jupiter said "Whoever does not love is only a fool."

The sun said "Be bright", the earth said "Be bold"
And Venus nodded, saying  "Find yourself somebody to hold."

Mars circled a little closer and said "Do not waver"
So Uranus smiled gently and said "Don't let others see you quaver."

Neptune told you "There's so much to see"
And Mercury said "It does not take much to know you are free."

So Pluto called out, saying "There's much more to know!"
The universe agreed, and said "There's more time to grow."

The Milky Way murmured "Keep your love at your core"
And I looked up and said "I will always love you more."

And sometimes
Just like that
I see
What I have been
Seeing

And
I understand
This path
I'm on

The darkness
Lifts
And the fog
Clears
Though
I don't mind
Either

And I see
Straight enough
To step
Forward

K:  "Hi, it's me."

R. "Hi, back. What's up?"

K. "Saw you asleep in your chair, again, you okay?'

R:  "Just trying to sneak in a nap before going to work."

K.  "I sense that something has been bothering you a little bit, something, about "pennies?

R: "Kinda, sorta. Strange coincidences, I guess you might say."

K: "Well, lay it on me."

R: "It's like the "Pennies from Heaven" story. You know the one. the Angels drop them to let you know that you're loved, and not forgotten, so they'll drop a penny where you'll find it while walking across the street, down the sidewalk, and so on."

K: "Sounds familiar."

R: "There's another slight version where a  loved one will do the same. Its happened to me rather often, going or coming out of the laundrymat or grocery store and being pretty sure it wasn't  there when I first arrived."

K. "How does it make you feel?

R: "A little perplexed at first, then a comfortable feeling, believing that you're still around and you're the one placing them for me to find. Sort of, like, sending a message. They aren't hidden,  just lying in wide open spaces, where anyone else could find them."

K. "Sounds like they're just for you and no one else, doing what they're meant to do. What do you do with them.?"

R: "I put them in a 'change jar' on the dresser."

K. "Just don't spend them. I know you have to get ready for work in a little bit, so go ahead and finish your nap, okay?"

R: "Okay. Talk to you later. Oh, by the way, thanks for the pennies!"

K: "You're welcome, and 'watch' where you're walking!"

There is an ache
That sits in my chest
When I read your poetry

I sit long
Trying to wrap
My arms around
Something

Want so badly
To soothe an ache
Yours
Or mine

And so I sit
