If you would only stop
And take a look inside of me
You would see the sadness
That's left a hole in me

The smile you once gave me
Has left with out a trace
And every time I see you
I seem so out of place

You have no feelings for me
You lost that long ago
And yes there will come a day
That I will let you go

The long days of pain
That once I had for you
They're something that will not remain
Cause I'll get over you
I woke up once in a very strange world
I thought it was the past, or maybe a parallel universe
but I was wrong.
All around me I saw some stupid things
People been killed for their religious beliefs
gay marriage illegal, people been killed for been gay
freedom of speech limited
people not knowing what equal rights are
the rich getting everything while the poor get nothing
crime everywhere, criminals walking free
torture, suppression, bullying, hatred, killing, PERSECUTION
accused witches burned alive
governments killing civilians
War after war after war

I was wrong, this isn't the past or a parallel universe
this is our Earth, our time
This is happening right now!
"Should one of us remember,
  And one of us forget,
I wish I knew what each will do--
But who can tell as yet?"

"Should one of us remember,
  And one of us forget,
I promise you what I will do--
And I'm content to wait for you,
And not be sure as yet."
I'm only waiting now

for the burning sensation to wear off

so that

I can arise

and continue my journey up the summit

This old heart may be burnt, scarred, torn....

It still
however

beats.....

I handed in my homework
Gave it with a nervous smile
the paper damp from sweaty palms,
the waiting was a trial.

Today I got my paper back
from the dreaded Mr Barr
he grinned at me and gave a wink....
along with an A*!

He said I made him chuckle
as he read my little rhyme,
he thought the rhyming clever
and the rhythm quite sublime

He asked me one last question
in the hallway where we met
with deep concern upon his brow
"Did you find your brother yet?"

Now I'm hiding in the bathroom
racing with the lesson bell
quickly writing this wee poem
to let you know my work did well.
Thankyou to all of you that commented on Pinky Promise, your words really helped my confidence and eased my fear of handing it in. Thankyou!!!!!! :-)

I miss the way your fingertips
drew circles on my almond skin.
I miss wrapping your hair around
my finger like a phone cord
when I watched you sleep beside
me.

Now that I have your attention…

My issue’s not with the lost loves
but with the ones still holding on.
Because of you, pain is a cliché.
Human emotion has become
redundant. The only thing
that’s #depressing about
your life is how you’ve made
a conscious decision to relive
your “hells” constantly by making
them the focus of your poetry.
I know poetry is a window to the soul, and this is a look into mine recently. I may get a lot of hate for this, but I feel like it has to be said. It's rare that I scroll through the trending poems and favorite any because they're all about missing someone. I get it, people miss people. But there's no originality in how people present it. And I feel badly for those whose ORIGINAL work goes unnoticed. I'd like to think I have a valid point. Maybe I don't. Regardless, this has been on my mind a lot lately.

i close my eyes
and find relief where it may come
in silver soldiers that dance across my skin
and leave red rubies on my bedsheets

i close my eyes
and find relief where it may come
in fairy dust that promises eternal happiness
still more rubies drip to my pale lips

we all need something
to keep us numb
