Old lovers are
no different
they come together
quivering
and
fragile
in need of
reassurance.

They come in both
happiness
and pain,
their clothes dropped
like the delicate
gray feathers
of fledglings
nudged from the nest
in fear
and
longing

to fly

to be who they were
meant to be
slicing the sky open
to see the sun
and
all the stars
in one vision.
Tiny fragments
of me
now exist
within you,

They reside
in your memories;
we've made
more than a few.

Tiny fragments
of you
now exist
within me,

They remain
in my heart
indefinitely;
in my soul infinitely.

Grapefruit tree blooms lush
Its proud fragrance dominates
Stirs senses...in white...

Redolence wakens.....
Mind and nostrils, side by side
Inspire and create...

'neath Sunday's twilight
Branches mate....shadows connect,
Entwine....entangle.....

Curved silhouettes form
An arabesque....of shapes
And my own dance steps...

Night impregnates mind,
Scents, trees, starry nights..are turned
To runes..........some, with tunes.

I'm breathing in my last breath and I know the charms of death are only inches from my lips
And it might sound like suicide until you place your hand over the cold skin of my chest
And you feel nothing living underneath
No pulse no heart no dreams
Nothing for time to do but watch itself rust on the face of the broken clock rotting inside stagnant blood
And the reflection of all my years is a face I was never meant to be
And its time to burn the scars and wounds and watch them turn to cinder and then to ash and decompose
And find myself alive again from the kiss and dream of death

newspaper print no longer stains my fingers black
its a time gone by
now I read poetry
from across the Universe
written on a screen
unbiased daily news
tells more than a newspaper ever could.
