My heart aches for a comfort I once knew—
not a place, not a person,
but a breath of warmth, a vanished echo,
a feeling I cannot trace.

It lingers in the salt of a memory
dissolving on my tongue,
in the brittle edges of old polaroids
where time has smudged our names.

I gather museum tickets
like relics of a past life,
paper-thin proof that I
belonged somewhere once.

But going back is like stepping
into a house where all the furniture
has been rearranged—
familiar, yet wrong.

Homesick for a ghost, I wander.
Hoping, searching,
For a voice, a touch, a sign—
anything that will whisper:

"You have arrived. You are home."

Alone she waits where waves won't sleep,
The sea her grave, the sky her keep.
For love, for hope, for what can't be,
Just bones adrift in memory.

No voice to cry, no soul to see,
Yet still she waits eternally.
Time turned her into bone and air,
But still she lingers, as if one cared.

We’re in a young-love recession.
Gen Zers are slow to trust and averse to risk,
we have, it seems, a particular social nervousness
about interpersonal exchanges and the symbiosis of love.

So we resort to situationships (undefined relationships),
a stratagem for closeness, with zero commitment.

You can flirt; you can kiss; you can dance.
You can have a crush so big it blots out the stars
You can have transformative romantic encounters
you can care deeply and get hurt badly
you can, in fact, be absolutely wrecked by love
All without ever being in a relationship.

Thank God we’re only young once.

I need you like twilight needs the stars,
like weary hands crave a gentle touch.
The world is softer with you in it—
its edges ease, its air turns warm,
the weight of longing lifted in my ribs.

I close my eyes and reach for you,
and though miles stretch between us,
I find the trace of your presence still—
cologne and cigarettes,
smoke curling soft in memory,
a scent that whispers, I am near.

If I could pull you through the distance,
fold the hours between my hands,
I would rest my head against your shoulder,
breathe you in until the ache fades.
But even now, love lingers in the quiet,
a steady pulse, a tether unbroken.

You are not gone, only waiting—
your laughter still echoes,
your warmth still lingers,
and your name, when spoken,
is not a wish, not a prayer—
but a promise that love remains.

It’s a sunny day,
I watch you
Slip through
My fingers
As I dip my hands
Into you,
Smoke dangling
From my lips
Like scars.

Tell me,
My love,
My new love,
My new found love,
Will I lose you too?

The tide pulls back,
a quiet thief,
stealing footprints
before I can trace them twice.

Tell me,
is love always like this?
A flicker in the dark,
a matchstick kiss,
a fleeting warmth
Tired and soulful eyes.

Or will you stay,
linger like salt on skin
like a song I whistle,
long after the music fades.

I can't do brain
I can't do thoughts
I can't do friends
And I can't do smoking in parking lots

I can't do death
But I also can't do living

I can't do anything
Except for just giving
And giving
