Tomorrow
Henry Onwordi Feb 2020
Tomorrow is never promised

Therefore each day is precious

Who knows what delights a day may bring

Believe each moment has a significance

Time ticks by bringing forth a new day

Each stroke paints a small picture of possibility

A new dawn of possibility

An emblem of freedom

Each day holds a moment of significance

Embrace your love and remind them of their place in your heart

Have gratitude for an unmerited gift

Life's beauty stands forever gleaming as a crystal

reflecting diverse rays of hopes and possibilities

Each to grasped at and utilised

I am alive
Henry Onwordi Feb 2020
I am alive

I can see the path that lays ahead of me,

The roads are winding and the challenge is hard

But there is grace for every moment hope for every dream

wayfarer
Henry Onwordi Feb 2020
I am alone

Filled with desire like a child with no milk to **** in the night

I move secluded like lamb hoping for feed

The winds of trouble tip my tottering ship and it capsizes

I drown in a sea of anxiety and fear

Met by the sharks of despair

The path I'm on is painful one, a garden filled with thorns

do you see me as I flounder in this  my walk of life

Hoping to look up and see a guiding light yet the only light perceived is the flash of thunder groaning through the grey skies

Is this the point of darkness where I'm called to abandon all hope

There's no fusion between faith and courage

These wells are dried and exhausted from repeated use of vain repetitions

Mantras which try to trick the mind but never reaches the chambers of the heart

I'm crushed beneath the weight of empty promises I tell myself

I aim for the moon but fly too close to the sun

What am I, who am I

A caged bird, a baited bear, perhaps an uneducated savage

I write words to form a blanket to keep warm in the cold nights

Please though I seem like a beggar by the shop

Believe me I can be more than the smell of desperation

Help me, that I might toil and know its not in vain

Hope
Henry Onwordi Feb 2020
Hope, in trials find courage to hope

Believe in Gods hand and Hope

See the sinking sands of time change your environment and hope in what doesn't change

See each day as a chance to learn something new and hope.

Take hold of the difficulty and lay it in the hands of the Lord and hope.

Seek comfort in his guiding hand and hope.

Look at what God has done in the past and believe with hope.

The troubled waves are here yet he is the one who steers life so hope,

Hope in God, In Christ, In his love and grace.

I'm starting to breath
Henry Onwordi Feb 2020
I'm starting to breath,

My captive lungs have been released and I can breathe the air of liberty.my heart has been rejuvenated to operate one beat at a time

My eyes are starting to clear up from the steam of self-pity and the world is large with life once more

Songs and melodies of life begin to resonate in my mind causing me to believe and hope

The grass is always greener on the other side of pain

The bird cage has been left open  and I can fly free

I can explore the vastness of the heavens

My Times
Henry Onwordi Feb 2020
Time is in the hand of God.

He controls the events of each day both pleasing and dark. Finding humility and comfort in Him is the daily challenge. Each day brings its trouble and the storms must be walked through. Emotions overwhelm the soul perpetually and the heart is drowned in confusion and perplexity. O that help would be sent to assist one to swim in this sea of confusion and heart ache.

Loneliness creeps into the soul leaving the mist of solitary isolation. The heart is unable to cope with floods of emotions. The mind struggles to sit still and composed through the trials of life

To view God as all sufficient and all satisfying in the trials of life is difficult. To believe that in spite of all the trouble, all will be well, therein lies the difficulty.

Weeping and Joy
Henry Onwordi Feb 2020
O sorrowful one

Your tears are seen

Each droplet is collected in a sacred bottle

Your sighs don’t go unheard

The Lord Knows, The Lord sees

He ordained the days

He ordained the moments

Trust Him, he brings solid joys with each day

He is always at hand to heal and to bless

Always

Trials
Henry Onwordi Feb 2020
Dawn breaks and the burden of the day lays heavy on the back

Afraid to rise from bed for fear of taking a wrong step

There's anxiety, worry, guilt

Pain reaches the extremities and the mind is darkened with doubt

Strange how pain persist, how it endure long seasons without relenting

But in the midst of the anguish, there's room for hope

The darkness will lift in its own time

The heart through trials learns patience and trust

Moves carefully taking one small step at a time

There is grace which is sweet to the heart

Melodies of peace and comfort soon intrudes

Promises once distant now seem clear and glows brightly

Love will help lift the burden and cradles the soul in arms of peace

Path
Henry Onwordi Feb 2020
I'm on a path of discovery

Each day holds delectable fruits of learning for me to taste

I take one each to my lips and gain understanding

The night tells of wisdom and my heart is enlarged and encouraged

These trials will only be for a short while and then rest

There will be a change, sometime soon the monochrome of time will burst forth with colour of joy and refreshment

Trust Him
Henry Onwordi Feb 2020
The clouds darken the sky  and the sun may appear blocked from view

You long for the rays of comfort but feel the rain of confusion pelting on your face

Regardless of your fears and sorrow

Trust the lord

Remember his goodness to you in time gone by and hope in it for today and tomorrow

Your still alive, breathing air through the lungs and exhaling out all the bad stuff

Its all by design, the trials are by the design of God's hands

He promises to never give us more than what we can handle

Never more than what we can bear

So believe in him

Trust his kindness and grace

The days are better spent walking by his side

Arise
Henry Onwordi Feb 2020
Awake and arise

The day greets you each moment and asks what it is you want to achieve

What were your dreams last night and which ones do you want to accomplish

Where are your goals and ambitions, lay the before you and ponder on them

Take a breath and realise that to reach your goals is possible

Don’t hesitate to think big, to dream big

Let hope rise with courage and you will see that those little tasks will lead to a big reward

Each day take a small step, reach out and believe

Grace
Henry Onwordi Feb 2020
There is grace for you everyday

Each morning rises with the melody of hope and fulfilment.

Never feel your alone or forsaken.

Realise you're blessed and loved.

Take comfort in the truth that God cares about you

and watches over your life each day.

Do not succumb to your emotions but

rise above what appears hard and

have confidence in your self.
Henry Onwordi Feb 2020
The streams of living water proceed from the fountain of God

Quenching the thirst of anxious souls seeking rest and repose

The heart of god is vast and open willing to welcome and heal the soul who places theirs trust in his son

We were once strangers and outcasts before him

Raging against his truth and will until his love came down and touched us

We were blind and had no eyes to see but he approached and gave us sight

We were lame and crippled but he brought life to us and taught us how to walk

He has opened our hearts and rescued our souls for his own good pleasure

No more do we drink the poisoned grapes of the world but now we drink the streams of living water filling our souls with joy peace and love

Giving us a new hope for our future and strength for each new day

Light through darkness
Henry Onwordi Feb 2020
This road forks into many directions

Light feels like a distant memory as the heart feels chased by darkness

which way

Which way

The pain of yesterday the troubles of tomorrow

What's the best route how does the soul find healing

The north star is hidden by the clouds of dismay

Optimism has departed pessimism takes residents

The mind spins and churns wishing it could raise the white flag and find rest

Yet which of the felt enemy will respond to weakness

The enemy of the soul seeks after blood wants the heart to continue to decline

The deception has been seen, felt, known

Slavery to vanity must be escaped but where can this wayfarer find liberty

Is there a power, a source, a person

A solider, a captain

All the soul knows is the road of death

It needs to be taught the path of life

the steps taken have been without a guide

And yet somehow they have been guided

The body shakes form swimming in the sea of cold indifference

This pilgrim yearns for warmth

A fire to burn bright within the soul

where are all these desires coming from

Its easy to feel safe in old ways

But there is craving for a new path

The question is which road is it

As despair begins to settle in the heart a faint light flickers in the distance

What can it be why is it there the only way to know is to take the path that leads there

Yet the question remains

Will you take that one step

Be Brave
Henry Onwordi Jan 2020
Be brave, the felt pain will soon melt

Hold onto what's most important to you

Remember your gifts your skills

Realise you are valued and cared for

Arm yourself with the promises of love and do battle against the anxieties which lurk inside

Your not forgotten, your not forsaken

One day soon you will rise like the sun glorious in appearance

All will be in awe of your radiance, your warmth, your glow

It wont be long, this pain wont always last

So be brave, take courage and hope

— The End —
