I look at you, and I know what my future looks like
Your smile makes me want to make this a better world
A world with a future

A future with trees
A future with the Missippi River
A future with whales
A future with clean air
A future with arable land
A future with a future

I look at you, and I know what my future looks like
Your tears make me want to fight for your generation
A generation with equality

A generation with educated girls
A generation with women's rights
A generation with safety
A generation without ****
A generation without sexism
A generation with a voice

You have become my source of faith
You have become my driven force to succeed
You have become my inspiration

I love you

7-year-old me began elementary
i was not an equation you can solve
i did not play
i did not complain
instead i read and studied

10-year-old me started fourth grade
i was not an equation you can solve
i did not have sleepovers
i did not live in a fairytale
instead i observed

13-year-old me hit puberty
i was not an equation you can solve
i did not cry
i did not scream
instead i hid my dreams

15-year-old me is facing highschool
i am not an equation you can solve
i am not making excuses
i am not sensitive
instead i am wishing

i am wishing for society to stop making life into an equation
i am wishing for society to stop telling me to go to college at 18
i am wishing for society to stop telling me to get married before 30
i am wishing for soceity to stop making me into a person i am not ready for
i am wishing for soceity to stop making fun of me because i am different

i am who i am
i grow at my own pace
time does stop and wait for the world to grow up
so how come time can't stop and wait for me to grow up?

what happened to freedom? what happened to joy and happiness? do they deserve to be taken out of the equation because they value less than success?

what happened to me? am i allowing people to enforce this equation on me? on everyone else?
just some thoughts about life and future

Pain is absorbed into their flesh
Agony is soaked into their blood
Misery killed their beliefs
Trauma stained their souls
Death chocked their emotions
Executions drained their tears
The consequence of torture is silent
The reward of silent is death

Smoke devoured their sunshine
Bombs stepped on their homes
Panic cut their throats
Guns penetrated their dreams

They were waiting for us in silence
Twelve years of silence
I don't know if I should use this poem for a school project

Yellow journalism
With shattered criticism
Are people aware?
That the truth lays bare

Red card is dispensing
We shouldn't be asking
Men aren't the enemy
But women shouldn't wait helplessly

It's our job to unite
Putting aside our heights
It's our right to be loud and proud
Standing up in the protesting crowd

I wish the world were simple
Pure and clean like a wimple
We live under a sky with limits
But we dream every minute
