A dark red sky, a setting Sun
Forty years since that begun
A man with deep-blue tie and worn-out suit
Walking alone,
through ashes of a neighborhood

A torn-up scarf in his right hand
A sunshine pattern, which he can’t stand
In search of a mystic, hidden away
To find the sun, and brighten the day
A fair looking lady, tall and thin
Yet containing only nightfall within

“I wish to see the day once more,
I bring you the scarf that she once wore”
The torn-up scarf now set ablaze
And yet the Sun, it did not raise
A man bereft of his final ray
Did not live, to see the day

Emotional Expression
Hessel Jan 2020
Day – sunshine, life and warmth
Out – smiling, living and sharing

Night – cold, dark, but comforting
In – alone, nothing but thoughts
My struggle with being unable to truly express my negative emotions

Ego
A stained-white pearl
Shines sky-blue light
As dark-red mist
Its beauty hides

Howling winds clears way for my gaze
Seeing I to I
My meditation experience
