The crucifixion of another belief
let's put good sense up on the cross
we will just carry on with no relief
as we continue to pay the cost

we are so tangled in the laws of gods
we should have better laws of man
let's fight fate and go against the odds
and keep denying what we understand

It's forty five degrees today
it's still the coldest day of the year
I just keep asking myself
what the hell am I doing here

the sun comes up and I lay down
I'd rather sleep the light away
I'd rather be by myself

We got it made, in the shade
we get paid for the lives we take
another raid, we're not afraid
sling the blade for the government's sake

having fun, in the sun
there goes one more out of luck
another bomb, another gun
a running child is a sitting duck

we got it made, in the shade
we get praised for the lives we take
another slain, we're not insane
sling the blade for the governments sake

when a god dies
GaryFairy Dec 2014
(a narcissistic god)

I am ice and I am fire
I am the beginning and the end
sacrifice for my desire
or never get to where you begin...

------------------------------------------

that sunset used to be mine
I ruled over all the land
the beginning of thought and time
it doesn't belong to man

(a miracle - let the shepherd do his work)

a miracle, a ******'s child
all hail the king of kings
let all that is wild
see what tomorrow brings

dont question what came before
close your eyes to the past
close every open door
I am here to rule at last

(miracles)

I can walk on water
or turn it into wine
I am god's lamb for slaughter
he is the father of mine

(a sacrificial lamb)

all hope is lost
a backfired plan
put him on the cross
... **** the son of man...

father why have you forsaken me?

(he has risen)

forces beyond the power of man
who has rolled back this stone?
it's been pushed by god's own hand
I am god and god alone!

(the holy spirit)

the holy spirit is all around
holding power over death, hell, and the grave
now the believers hands are bound
you can suffer or you can be saved

(followers)

even though we all have faith
we can't possibly obey all these rules
it's best to pray, just in case
then we can just pick and choose

(narcissistic man)

I have to find what suits me
inside of these words of scripture
some things I just can't see
so I paint my own picture

(a dying god)

I have been taken for granted
as I just wither away
though my rules have been recanted
I am going to have my day

I had to come out swinging right from the bell
absorbing every jab that life throws

just waiting for the knockout punch

still dancing and going toe to toe
throwing haymakers left and right
I try to keep my guard up
hoping somehow to win by decision

side-stepping punches
ducking and weaving
uppercut uppercut uppercut
I dropped my guard, and there goes my mouthpiece

ding!

saved by the bell

Change the filter, your words are blowing smoke
although, it's so good to get to know a joke
your flow was all for show, so it broke
your punch lines are the same old poke

no open lines without an open mind
the words you spoke are the broken kind
roped in words, full of hoping blind
so many token finds, you need some coping time

(this isn't a jab, and is about saying the same old things, like the old sayings that don't make any sense. Even though they get us nowhere, we still use the same old phrases. I think we do it for a scapegoat, to keep us from having to really think.)

fans of apathy-monsters-winter heart-bound-trail of broken tears-i remember

There's no "go team" for fans of apathy
that stadium lacks capacity
casual acts of random vanity
man has relaxed, average atrophy

sadness lasts longer than catastrophe
forced to face the facts of tragedy
who cares what is and what has to be
our lacking will lead to our agony

monsters

The monster is never fed
something is missing in our heads
i sit upon the dust
and i walk through the cobwebs

there's an error in my dreams
nothing is ever how it seems
I realize that I'm awake
and no one hears my screams

there's a world that doesn't care
as long as it's happening over there
I sit upon the glass
and walk up broken stairs

the monster is never bled
feasting on the blood it sheds
I sit upon the rust
and walk on river beds

trail of broken tears

Whispering water of tumbling creek
braving blue ridge mountain steeps
wet feet walking on a Cherokee trail
Tom Tom, drum beat, tribal wail

forlorn flashbacks under foot
hopeless harrow, horse and hoof
savage sorrow of suffering souls
war swept wasteland, walking coals

I remember

I remember when we smoked together
rolling in a haze of pleasure
endless dreams, without measure
I wish it were like that forever

it was such a care-free feeling
knowing that you were always willing
so high, we were on the ceiling
the magic of a plant so healing

we weren't young, but we played the part
taking adventures in the dark
girl, you really left your mark
you'll live forever in my heart

bound

I found the key that opens the door
to what is to be and what is being for
bound to see a hopeless open sore
I'll never be free from seeing more

I saw the light that shines so dim
onto the monster that lives within
bound by visions of who, what, and when
I'll never be free to be happy again

I found the path that leads the way
to where tomorrow meets with yesterday
bound to see the black through the grey
I'll never be free from thoughts gone astray

winter heart

Goodbye to the summer sun
light has played the biggest part
its ok, what's done is done
I am ready for an autumn start

hello to an autumn chill
discolored leaves fall apart
its ok, what was is still
as cold as my winter heart

so much can bring you to your knees
you have to be smart to stay alive
when there's a leopard in every tree

snakes crawl through the underbrush

voices whispering, under hush
waiting for a life to steal

I'll  attack you now Sitting there so distant and cruel
What's behind your glare;
Inciting me down
calling me out to a primal almost forgotten place
come on now! Don't back off now!
I'm inside you; seeing you with my Soul
Piercing your weak cover of over-selfishness
I'll blow you down to Hell!

what can a man do?
GaryFairy Nov 2014
In a city where jobs are few, and people are many
it would be hard to see yourself winning
when you need money and don't have any
the clocks against you from the beginning

what can a man do, just to get by
what can a man do to be somebody
what can a man do to change his life
what can a man do

selling cigarettes that he calls loosies
maybe he can make himself a dollar
that all depends on who sees
it might be okay if you're the right color

jailed twice for trying to make a living
but in the black, the blue is hidden
seen by the eyes of the unforgiving
just trying to get by is forbidden

with no warrant and no good reason
it's just encroachment on our freedom
tired of the way they treat him
he fought back, they called it treason

a battle he could never win

I can't breathe, I can't breathe, I can't breathe, I can't breathe, I can't breathe, I can't breath, I can't breathe, I can't breathe, I can't breathe, I can't breathe, I can't breathe

what can a man do to catch his breath
what can a man do to make a buck
what can a man do to avoid his death
what can a man do

(this is about Eric Garner, a man who had been arrested twice for selling single cigarettes in a poverty stricken nation. The fourth time the police approached him, he was tired of it, so he wasn't going to jail so easily. The law states that they must have a warrant or a reasonable cause, before they can arrest someone. They tackled Eric, and choked him to death. In the same city, many crimes are unsolved while this goes on. The video of the police killing Eric garner can be found on youtube)

T'was the night before Christmas and all through the shack, not a present to be found, because dad was on crack. ***** socks in the corner, nasty stench on the air, with hopes that the dope man would soon be there.

The children were all rolling in their old beds, because of bedbugs chewing on their heads. And mama with her syringe, and daddy smoking crack. They were too strung out to lay down for a nap.

When out in the street there rose such a clatter. Dad sprung to his feet to see what was the matter. When away from the window he flew in a flash. "*******! They're after my stash!"
Watch for the rest. I am pretty sure that someone will get killed, and the kids will get presents.

I wrote this after looking through some poetry contest winners, and reading the poems. Not only local, but also some major winners. It blows my mind what is good poetry and i feel bad for the ones who lost, who wrote more meaningful stuff.
