 Dec 2016 Fireflies
Ito
The day you said you didn't feel the same,
My mind did mental gymnastics.
I gazed deep into space for days at a time.
All I could do is stare,
memories that never became true just like you.

My heart sank like a corpse weighed down in the ocean,
I knew I drank Cupid's potion,
my body numb at your touch,
my reasoning clouded by your voice,
my vision blinded by your image.

A gaze too intense,
a kiss so fleeting,
a touch so heavy,
an exchange of harsh words,
I can only stare at the padded white walls.

i like your crooked teeth,
and the fact that you’ve never
attempted to fix them.

i like your unruly eyebrows,
unkempt and raw, they intrigue me.

everything about you is so imperfect,
and its such a shame that those who have
come before me have not fallen in love with
all of your flaws, and its such a
travesty that you,
my love, cannot
see the beauty
in all of your
so called physical
inadequacies.
two poems in one day , oops .

For years they shared similar
Goals and dreams
Then a crossroads
Upon the horizon
Brought them to a halt
Choices were made
And paths diverged
Once united, now divided
Though moments
Shine with laughter and joy
Swiftly, storm clouds
Of disdain and contempt
Can color the air
As choices made are ridiculed
A delicate balance exists
That teeters rhythmically
One minute, camaraderie prevails
Stirring feelings of love
The next moment, despair rules
Planting seeds of rage
How I miss the one,
But hate the other…

This is the day of the splitting path
Take one more glance, know it'll be your last
So aching to watch you go
But no mistaking, I do know
Why you have to
I would too if I were you you

I have your photo, in an ancient frame
Across my soul, is a tattoo of your name
I cried when I wrote this song
Wiped my tears and wailed "so long!"
You'll make it this time
You're too perfect to be mine mine
