Before I met her
I used to dress myself.
Donned in paisley,
I had class and style.
She cut out my Calvin Klein heart
and now I look like
my grandpa.
Oversized golf shirts,
and slacks to match.

I used to dress myself.
It sounds absurd
but it's true.
I was dangerous, I lived
on the edge.
She said,
"You're not a gangster,
so quit dressing like one.
Here, put this on.
It's really cute."

I used to dress myself.
And now I'm
safe and sound in
cardigans and corduroy.

Gray morning mist
Walking into the waves
Separating in two
Before you.
Water crashing,
Moving,
Becoming one
Ocean.
At the end
When you
Reach the sand,
Arms wrap
Around
Holding you,
The sun,
Welcomes
The end of
Two waves
As they become
One ocean

Colors swirling, whirling, 'til
They stop all movement, frozen, still
But watch the shades mix into grey
Until all life just... fades away

If i had an empty bottle
Hanging on a tree
For every time
You told me i wasn't
Pretty enough
Sweet enough
Popular enough
Smart enough
Funny enough
Good enough
Enough

If i had a full bottle
hanging on a tree
For every time
I told you you weren’t
Pretty enough
Sweet enough
Popular enough
Smart enough
Funny enough
Good enough
Enough

People would think i was a drunk
Because my tree would be full of empty bottles.

In my dreams,
our story doesn't play out like this
the chapters are full of love and enchantment

In my dreams,
it's almost as if i can feel your touch
as if i can feel you with me
as if you never really left

In my dreams,
we get our happily ever after
our night at the ball
our romantic carriage ride

i don't think i want to wake up quite yet
a part of me wants to sleep forever
