I don't need happy times
I don't need the sun to shine
All I need are these tears to cry
If I don't have you

I don't need the birds to sing
I don't need diamond rings
Can't think of anything I need
If I don't have you

I don't need a day of bliss
I don't need a moving kiss
I don't need any of this
If I don't have you

I don't need a star filled night
Nor do I need romantic moon light
All I need is a room to hide
If I don't have you

I don't need skies of blue
I don't need my dreams come true
I don't need the earth to move
When all I really need is you

I'm sorry but I should point out
I've grown beyond what they're
Going on about
All that gore, guts and glory
Reveals a wonderful
Impossible story

Between those lines of logic lost
Whispers a mantra
Of rational thought
Callings to light
The voice of reason
It's humanity
  That needs appeasing...
At what point will we say we've had enough
At what point will we give it up
The way things are going it's hard to find
Where in the sand to draw the line

Seems we're shooting from the hip
For so long now we're used to it
Fill free to place the call, it's your dime
But who's on the other end of the line

How early is too soon and too soon late
Is there a do over, over our mistakes
With enough light we should see the signs
Then maybe we could find the line

When did we start to love our love for hate
And do we remember if there ever was a day
I would do for you and you would do in kind
As we both grip hands on the line

And as the end defends its wanderlust
When it comes for each and every one of us
My hope is that is takes its own sweet time
As we are all waiting patiently in the line
I'm not 100 percent positive
But I think my girlfriend is a spy
You might be wondering where I got this idea from
Sit back and I'll explain to you why

She gets calls on her cell phone at the oddest of hours
Tells me she must take this call because it is urgent
Whispers into the receiver, then walks out of the room
So I'm pretty sure she's a secret agent

I ask her out for dinner on the weekends
She tells me there's no way, she just can't
I figure she must be going on a secret mission
Perhaps somewhere in the South of France

I've had plenty of friends tell me they've seen her
Out at different times with different guys
She'd better be careful or she'll blow her cover
As a top notch international spy

Out of curiosity one day I did follow her
When I called and she didn't call back
I saw her at the mall with another man
Whom I assume is her main contact

They were at a corner table in the food court
Sitting together up close face to face
They didn't want any other spy's hearing their secrets
As they make for us this world a safer place

Now that you've heard all the evidence
You now know the reason why
I've come to the only conclusion
That my girlfriend is a spy

I live in the East
You live in the West
I roll to the right
You lean to the left

You watch the game,
I text my friends for fun.
You write every day,
What awaits me is always unsung.

I'm one that loves vanilla
While you prefer your chocolate
You live life in the open
I tend to close and lock it

I like the night,
You await the morning.
My sunsets, purple and pink,
Your sunrise has orange hues adorning.

I'm early to bed early to rise
You never seem to close your eyes
These days I'm moving rather slow
As you're always on the go

You have your coffee with cream,
I have my Kombucha tea.
You grill up some steaks to eat,
I say pass the salad to me.

Though we're miles apart
In differences between
Commonality we definitely
Have in our love of poetry

Thanks for sticking around through my bit of absence, you guys. I'm still writing. Take care, all!
