Tall as a lighthouse
Eyes like searchlights
Searching through the darkness
Seeking beneath the surface
Calmness amongst the waves
That would toss and turn
And concern a sailor's soul
Unmoved and unmoving
Fixed firmly to the ground
Were those flashes winking?
Signalling only to me
Calling me into her haven
Or, warning of some danger
And is the danger she
Could she just be blinking?
Trying hard to see through
The veil I cast like night
Trying to cast a light on
The thoughts I will not show
Like the shipping forecast
Her voice is deep and soft and slow
Speaking of a world I do not know
Some mystical language
That speaks of highs and lows
Rising and falling
Backing and veering
Smooth or rough
8 or 9 now
6 or 7 later
Slowly, steadily, rapidly
Dogger, Viking, Faeros
North Utsire
South utseeerah
Lunday, Cromarty, Malin
I've loved them all
Her Fresnel light shines
To the beat of her heart
Her signal in the dark
Sees through my every feeling
Strips away my bark
I can taste the salt
And feel the sea
She leaves me yearning
To ride upon her wave
To feel her rage and her calm
To be taken in her nightime
And be left alone at dawn
To watch the ebb tide withdrawing
And wait again it's flow
To watch her beacon dimming
And again await its glow
mesmerised by the sea, the Shipping Forecast and lighthouses - I did myself seduced
