"bringbackourgirls" poems
Like crystal sand pebbles
Washed away from seashore
Like shooting stars in space
Propelled out of the night sky
Our beautiful black pearls
Young and innocent and ambitious
Full of life, full of tomorrow
Were stolen away in daylight
Away from unnatural habitats
Away from unsafe clusters
Away from our sleepy watchful eyes
Loosing their buoyancy
To the same fearsome monsters
That have plagued the land much
Bursting balloons at parties
Bringing mayhem as they visit
Making our warriors look childish
Forcing help from the world over.
The sun has gone to sleep
The moon has loomed too long
But to hope, we will cling
Till we find our lost pebbles…

Would you have
our stars not shine?
Would you have darkness
be your shrine?

If not for love, I would have done it
If not for love, she would have said it
I was just a kind heart, who wished for every good thing
Oh now I know, everything can't be good as I want it
There's always a bad side
She was just a fair skin, who wished for every beautiful thing,
Oh now she knows, everything can't be beautiful as she wants it
There's is always an ugly side
Together always, we cared less of square pegs and round holes
Now issues brings concerns; we take note of every err and bad thoughts
Bring back the days of old; when we loved like Romeo and Juliet
Bring back the times past; when we had each others back like Bonnie and Clyde
Please let us bring back the you, and the me, that became the us
And hopefully, we could bring back again, everything we kept away
For love is good, and it is good to be loved; One body for one good
If not for love, I would have left you
If not for love, she would have said it was over
And if not for love, we would have been asunder
If not for love, I wouldn't have done it
If not for love, they wouldn't have done it
My belief is different, and my faith is in God of all things
Oh now I know, we may not be the same, though we have one maker
There are Christians, and there are Muslims
They worship in their ways, and they call on God for all things
Oh now they know, we may not be alike, though we have one creator
There are blacks, and there are whites
Together always, we shared festive moods & feasts
Now politics in between; we pick every fault & differences
Bring back the old days; when we lived as brothers and sisters
Bring back the past times; when we protected each other and kept one another
Please let us bring back The Yoruba, and The Hausa and The Ibo that became one Nation
And hopefully, we could #bringbackourgirls, that were taken away
For God is love and love is God; One People under one God
If not for love, I wouldn't have embraced them again
If not for love, they wouldn't have invited me over
And if not for love, we wouldn't have lived together

There was a time when
all times looked the same
passing through seamless
dawn of ageless drain
We sought, fought and
bought our freedom for an ageless price
At a pace that dares not to take away our
endangered race
But what have brought
this craze of dismembering
the maze we felt less safe in.
The incorruptible men who
once calmed the storm
are now cohorts of a demeaning plot.
Their role in a war of stakes
is a gusty grab for the frontline
as they tussle for the ratio of cake
a game they so delight in.
Exhausted in a place which
was once a timeless haven
as their dignity is torn in shreds.
All sorts of glory are lost
still no one feels this is a shared shame.
If only we knew the journey would abort halfway
but the signs were like flare from the start
as sides became drawn in clear spat.
Two hundred and more of our “prized cowries”
got snatched from our land and our leaders
cannot guard our streets because they say
the times are bad and the enemies are back.
Everything get soured and some of us are left behind
as limbs are severed high into the firmament of red horror
We go hash with our tag
twitting and chanting that they restore our girls
bring back our girls-we pray
bring back our girls- we chant
Bemused, the soldiers assure to search our lands
While Boko bomb us out from our very own sands
Tangled, mangled, limbs and bodies get buried in our time.

It was just a normal school day,
And we were going out to play,
When those men armed with guns,
Took us away from the bright sun.
They took us to a camp,
A place lit with only a lamp,
When those men armed with guns,
Took us away from the bright sun.
We sat there like dogs,
In rows like peas in pods,
When those men armed with guns,
Took us away from the bright sun.
So please help us in anyway you can,
Such as posting on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram,
Make our smiles shine out like pearls,
By adding the #BringBackOurGirls

I now tell you a #storyofmylife,
Starting in the autumn of #2007 with quite a strife,
To be precise say #barcamp for my very first one,
since then people have used #hashtag for
#fahsion, #selfie, #art and #fun.
Anyhow I am nothing like a number sign,
Nor do I stand alone like a straight #line.
You may dislike the way people #followme,
Or you might to #follow along with a sense of #glee.
But don't I just #love #my #friends,
You let me know the #world, #news, and a sense of #motivation.
With you I have lived through many a
#bestoftheday, #night and #cool #lifestyle passion.
Since my #birthday you hand me many #powerofdreams,
#IceBucketChallenge,#BlackLivesMatter, #BringBackOurGirls, #LoveWins,
As I live on in the #songs and #voices of vibrant #life hour,
In this point we emerge into a stream of #peoplepower.
Along the #tenyears lifespan #we continue to see,
Singing along with #music, #beauty and #life of diversity,
#myself #work #happily #4youreyesonly
#smile #peace #love #withme
