“Truth
is often attended
by a bodyguard
of lies”

A consequence
so precious
its veracity
must hide

Deep within
the smoke
on a battlefield
most dire

Victory burns
within each man
intrepid
— to inspire

AM
The words slipped out-
"I don’t want this anymore"
Had I blinked,
I wouldn’t have said it.

And just like that,
they took shape,
sharp as thorns,
wilting his smile
as they struck.

And just like that,
I stood alone,
Had I blinked,
he wouldn't be gone.

Past mistakes linger, leading to an uncertain end,
Familiar moments reveal truths we weren’t meant to find.
The sky burns blue, tasting like whisky on the tongue,
Magic fades, just another story we’ve heard before.

I wanted to write a poem about you.
but what can my words describe.
such a beauty in blue.
i wanted to start with the beauty, the eyes, the love that grew.
i wanted to continue with your laugh blending with your gaze in hue.
but what can words describe.
such a beauty in blue.
when all i can see is a miracle, when all i can see is you.
My weak stanzas struggle, and my pen faints.
when i try and imagine your powerful haze.
when i try to look into your playful gaze.
when i try to imagine you.
such a beauty in blue.
My friend forced me to write this, Help me
Between The Sun & The Rain

They say that time heals all wounds
In the meantime I’ll present my charade
Until something happens to remind me
And I realize time only made them fade

I don’t know why we tell
Ourselves this just to get by
Is it so wrong that we must hide
Our Scars and never cry

In a world surrounded by people
I still feel very much alone
On the outside you can never know
I’m comfortably numb clean to the bone

When you said goodbye I pretended
Some day you’d still return
All the things you attempted to teach
Me I still refused to learn

Now I understand that time will
Never take away my pain
And forever I’ll be stuck somewhere
Between The Sun & The Rain

Warmth
Warm internal feeling
Warm like a real embrace
Warm like a cozy fireside
But the warmth from you feels the best
At least I imagine it would be
Not a question or doubt in my mind
That it can feel and warm the entirety of me
This warmth your soul possesses, to me, is in another world, so intimate and enticing.
This has me feeling you’re here with me, even when you’re not.
A warmth I long for, even in the softest embrace.
This warmth between us is brand new.
Imagine what more time will do!
My beloved looks like an angel
But only if looking from special angle.
Captivating eyes stole my mind
Trust me, they are severely unkind.

My beloved has voice like a lullaby,
Her whisper is always taking me high.
I listen to her, not catching a thing,
Just looking at her makes me blush pink.

My beloved has sweet,  plump lips,
Out of which every word slips.
Her words like a bittersweet poison
When anything here annoys her.

My beloved never loved me, and never will
I can’t force these feelings against her will
But my heart screams in deadly agony,
By this time left all my sanity.

As stale as day-old bread

Much gray as year-long dread

Lie down your own messy bed

In which you are as good as dead.
You are dead to me. Yes you are.

I enjoy my lab and goggles
I love my church and scripture
But my soul longs for ball gowns
And my heart awaits adventure

I'll make a good scientist
A faithful wife and Christian
But still I dream of princes
And righting unrightoeus dominion

For while I have a scholar's mind
And all I've ever learned is reality
I was born with a writer's blood
And would rather breathe in fantasy
