With quick detachment
    from the school of fish
Down depths darkened
    to majority's wish
Resolve gracious endeavors,
    minds still free
Love and kindness hides
    in ****** poetry

sitting - finally now
at day's end
imagining
this evening will not last long
but still - it lasts long enough
for my mind to forget some
of this rotation's subtle niceties
and focus on uglier regrets
    suddenly
becoming - THE WORLD
crashing it's weight down
and cognizant flight
goes left and right!
what must be done?!
    a long walk? fresh oxygen!
    alcohol!
    that cigar bar?
    that other bar I saw?
but before I can quickly medicate
my same mind
    calls up that night
we laughed so hard
together
the way you smiled
and I strain
with every bit of heart I have left
to hear your voice
with hope
that my shoulders
can let it all go

He’d only a shadow to dance with,
And this sundial of sorts
Could only count the loneliness;
Never once,
Could it cup the “empty.”

He’d known that momma was gone,
Daddy, only a sliver of the man ‘fore,
And his first steps were his own;
Never once,
Would the sky render sympathy.

He wanted the sea, to slouch, to sleep,
To wash upon shores, “away,”
But was awarded one sister and in abandon,
Never once,
Would he spot a star the same.
He's my son; he's my only son.

I try to recognize
the pain in the eyes
of my brethren.
I sympathize
to realize
the humanity
and to notice
the humility
surrounding me.
The strength I see
is more powerful
than conceit can be.
Yet we're deceived.
Solidarity we seek;
Although we're taught
to be divided and weak.
I try to recognize
there're no dead
in the eyes of our Mother.
As I search
the stars of our Father
I find no better truth;
We're as one for eternity!
Certainly empathy
is our truest direction!
We're more powerful
than deceit!
